You know
Meld with the beat?

Most of the more popular rappers today are great at harmonizing with more "poppy" beats, and blending their flow with the beat. Some great examples are Gunna, Lil Uzi Vert, and Lil Baby. Trippie Redd is another one.

They're great at blending more melancholic topics (like depression, drug use, suicide, etc.) into hard-hitting songs, which is one of the reasons why the shyt that they say goes over so many heads. Juice, Mac Miller and Lil Peep all rapped about addiction and such, yet it still came as a surprise when they died.
Are they pop singers or Hip Hop? I didn’t know harmonizing is what makes an MC.....

Honestly the melody and flow. Which is a double edge sword, cause that shyt has allowed nikkas to be lazy when it comes to lyrics and subject matter.

As sad as their deaths were, who was surprised? They was blatant(juice wrld and peep, idk about mac since I didn't listen to him)about abusing drugs in their music

Nothing. But with that said, hip-hop clearly peaked in the early-mid 90's, it was never going to be this good again.

What's funny is that there is legitimate talent in the new generation the issue to me is 1) They all try to sound like each other which is some combo of Chief Keef, Young Thug and Future to various degrees. 2) As such standing out is now considered a negative.
