the fact you included yonkers of all songs as an example has me mad lost as to what you're looking for

tyler himself came out and said that song was some random verses with no intrinsic meaning he decided to put together; thats exactly what you'd expect from a teenager, and right now gen z isnt shyt more than a bunch of teenagers and early 20s at best

looking for some mature, developed content from an audience that's everything except that is mad asinine; artists like nas have always been the exception, not the rule

the fact you explicitly said you're not looking shows where your head is at with this

Not not looking

Yonkers changed the game. I'm looking for someone to change the game. The sound. In my view the sound hasn't changed since 2015

i didn't see the double negative thats on me

yonkers didn't change much of nothing b; it was different sonically from a lot of other hiphop at the time, but it didn't do much in terms of influence outside of get tyler some shine

its nobody rapping now trying to make the next yonkers

that real game changing shyt is rare for a reason; expecting that from a young adult who hasn't had the opportunity to develop or mature their sound is ridiculous, how many times has that happened?

Tyler dropped Yonkers when he was 19, Blu made Below the Heavens when he was 22, Kendrick did Section.80 at 23 and then GKMC at 25.

I haven't heard shyt from Gen Z and I'm not not looking
If you ask me these young nikkas poetics is breaking down the ghetto as good as any era just differently.

Yonkers that shock value white boy bullshyt :heh:

Polo G dropped this at 20

Them was my sandbox nikkas like I been with 'em since birth
Tryna pull up on they corner and make nikkas disperse
We just want 'em to feel our pain 'cause we been hurt
They took one of ours, we just tryna get reimbursed
Took so many losses, swear I thought the hood was cursed
Started off with nothing, had to get this shyt from the dirt
And life been better now, but I'm still expecting the worst
I hop in foreigns for my boys who took a ride in that hearse
And I been going hard 'cause I'm content on comin' in first
God whispered in my ear and told me kill every verse
Feel like I'm goin' numb, swallowin' these X pills and Percs
Them drugs beatin' me, feel like my heart gon' jump through my shirt

Nineteen, I seen some crazy shyt, sanity, I'm chasing it
Going through so much that every blunt I see, I'm facing it
I was really patient with success, I had to wait for it
Now everybody's startin' to feel entitled, swear I hate this shyt
To the top, I'm taking it, remember taking station flicks
Oh, hell no, I can't go back to that jail, but still, I hate to slip
All this just the basic shyt, don't know who might relate to this
I don't open up, but I pour out while I'm makin' shyt
nikka think he takin' shyt, he must just want his face to lift
If it weren't for rapping, I'd be fukkin' with that nasal sniff
Rap money good, know they'll kill me for a taste of it
I ain't stressin', Cookies out the pound, rollin' eighths of it

If you ask me this is what this era do better use their voices as instruments to convey emotions, the blending of genres, and simpler straight to the point verses.

Ya'll worried about wordplay progression. Real progression is us as black people owning whatever we put out. No matter if it's bad or good.

Till then this argument is irrelevant to me. Our are is getting pimped since we been doing it. That's why I respect the few who didn't sign to a major like Dolph.

yeah these old nikkas is sleeping on the pen of these young nikkas

espescially because these nikkas like Polo G and others are influenced and inspired writing wise by some of the people these nikkas have in their top 5

polo g has Pac as his GOAT and takes up the social political introspective writing after him.

the only thing i will say that past nikkas did do better is there better at more linear storytelling.

but tbf, present nikkas are alot more wittier and use more punchlines. so pros and cons.

Their marketing game is up UP, on past generations. They've got social media at their disposal now tho. :yeshrug:

If Rocafella, Dipset (especially), G-Unit, etc. had access to IG, FB, Twitter, etc...today would be, a completely different landscape.

Production wise and sonically...I'll give it to the current generation. Too many songs to name, sound like an event, mood, or movie. :wow:

I've heard Chief Keef throwaways, that KNOCK, or would've been mainstream anthems, back in the day (beat-wise). But again, I can throw Notorious Thugs on today, and it STILL goes, sonically. :yeshrug:

So IDK. Advances in technology, have increased their sound capabilities. Hustle-wise, the youth got it. They're moving on ALL CYLINDERS, when, it comes to marketing, promotion, and getting their shyt heard. Cut the middle-men (cacs, labels, etc.) right out. I salute them, for that.

They're not my cup of tea and I don't agree with their worldview. But I would say females mcs like Cardi and Meg dominate charts as a whole more then the past. It's not a wait your turn, 1 at a time for females to exist in a space.

Meg and cardi gonna have top 20 songs in that space. They not in my 20 but still

This is true. I think the last major female MC who was a product of that was Nicki Minaj.

They expanded past simple rap. I know people have the tendency to hate but thats just typical for older generations to hate the newer. But these new artist I feel push boundaries of rap and are way more creative with the art (maybe not so much on subject matter). Artist now rap, use auto tune, low key sing, incorporate alternative flows, styles, beats, rhyme styles. If you look back at the 90’s and 2000’s it was the same kinda gangsta rap battle rap punchline ish flow. Now I feel like artist or more like musicians than just rappers.

Except for the early 90’s, I can see where you’re coming from with the bold.

Honestly the melody and flow. Which is a double edge sword, cause that shyt has allowed nikkas to be lazy when it comes to lyrics and subject matter.

As sad as their deaths were, who was surprised? They was blatant(juice wrld and peep, idk about mac since I didn't listen to him)about abusing drugs in their music

Bizzy Bone forgot more melodies than these little nikkas will ever know:wow:

I don't know if I'm giving them melodies simply based on the facts melodies wasn't as big. But guys like Nate Dogg,Bone Thugs,Levitti,Johnny P, to me are goated when it comes to melodies. So if more artist were doing it back then, good chance you wouldn't be able to give the newer generation melody either. Could you make the argument that if more rappers were trying to be lyrical today, that they would be better lyricist than the lyricist of the past? Absolutely not, because the best lyricist of today in my opinion don't hold a candle to the lyricist of the past.

I will give the newer generation beats. Even though many great beats of the past had more instruments which make them more musical. But alot of that was sampling so I cant give any credit for that overall. The generation who hiphop producers took they samples from were far superior musically. And any of our goats would be seen as laughing stock by them I would assume. This new generation is nice with the beats without taking from the past for the most part.

Flow is iffy, because people mostly just ripoff the "Migos flow" and do a poor job of it compared to prime Migos imo. Almost any idiot can sound like they have a flow about themselves using that flow. So really there are no "flows" because they all using the same style for the most part. Only segment of hiphop I genuinely enjoy is Detroit hiphop, its in a class by itself:wow:. Detroit rap and Sauce Walka is really all I listen too,I'm not waiting for Kendricks ass no more,he obviously don't wanna rap:camby:

People say they are better at their flow.
But really they are better at harmonizing IN GENERAL.... but not better than our harmanizers (like Bone Thugs, etc).
They cant RIDE A BEAT.... we think they can but they cant do what pac did or biggie or even jada kiss or fab... or nas. They arent as witty as jay z, etc...
They arent witty at all.
They are better at jokes and clowning but not witty.
And are feminized.
Really I think very few can ride Beats... if you include people like Rick Ross in the 'new gen'.

From lyrics
To originality
To rap beefs
To everything else....
Its madddd sad to see.

Plus I'm just going to go ahead and factor in RNB if we going to bring up melodies. Because thats what singing ass nikkas did back in the 90's and 2000's,they were singers lol. Are these new singing ass dudes melodies better than the melodies of our RNB greats?I don't think so. All they did was get rid of RNB and start singing about the trap, their drug use and bullshyt without sharpening their singing ability.
