They had so much leverage too. Polls going there way, a great election night, MAGA infighting and a righteous cause to feed people and provide them with healthcare.

The healthcare piece was the biggest leverage point that they had because ACA cuts across all socioeconomic demographics.

I genuinely hate that this deal was made, but the bolded is a prime example both of why the general public hates engaging with politics, and why folks need to log off for some context every now and then.

People can't feed their kids poll numbers, they can't check out at the grocery store with righteousness, and unless I missed it somewhere, MAGA infighting is not a stock that pays dividends. Playing electorate chess at the time of year when food insecurity is at its most visible is a dangerous game, and again, while I wish there was a better outcome, I don't know that I can entirely fault someone for not having the stomach for it long term. Ultimately, we're talking about actual people here, not just faceless votes.

Once it became clear that the Trump administration was willing to fight court orders to pay out benefits, at least for me, it became likely that this was going to end in some level of disappointment. When you're dealing with a group of people that legitimately does not care for the wellbeing of their constituents, and refuses to use any of the built in mechanisms in government to put an end to this (in literally any other presidency, this would absolutely be grounds for impeachment for dereliction of duty at minimum), you're playing a losing game. And expecting people to hold on and vote when that vote is a full year away is a bad bet, considering the most likely outcome is that those effected just disengage from politics altogether due to distrust.

The only real upside here is that it sounds like those that voted for this shyt stand a chance of being replaced by people who might be about getting some shyt done.

No it ain't. Adelita gets sworn in as the probable 218 vote to release those files. With the government back open, the focus shifts back to Epstein while we wait till December.

Oh, and Schumer said he was a no vote so y'all can't pin it on him
Schumer was a no vote to save his own ass, he wasn't a no vote because its something he believes in as a leader. Schumers own WHIP leader was a yes vote, like I said above yall stay falling for this trick bag. If it's not these villians this time next time it will be Schatz and Schumer like the previous time

If the American people haven't learned by now that Republicans dont give a fukk about anyone not in the multi-millionaire class, then they never will.

Repubs just passed a bill that cuts Medicaid and food stamps in order to cut taxes for rich people, that wasn't a fukking clue?

How many times is this electorate going to have to learn the same lesson?
Just one more time

I'm sure the Republicans are shaking in their boots about being shamed.

Yep. Again I am all for shytting on these nikkas but the same time we all have the luxury of being largely insulated from what that means and have the privilege to bytch about it in the first place. Part of the reason of fighting for these people is supposed to be understanding their plight in the first place.

Right. And again, if this were a regular functioning government, fukk it, keep it going. Either the Supreme Court would eventually force benefits to be paid while the shutdown gets figured out, or the President would have the serious threat of removal to consider maybe not using public cruelty to get what they want. Unfortunately, we don't live in that situation. I just hope that the people complaining about this now are active when the time comes to get this people replaced with more effective candidates.

So they had resolve to handle the calls and criticism when kids are getting blown to bits, but we gotta worry about their resolve about kids not eating????

:mjlol: Clown shyt…..half those corporate Dems are bothsides TLR bros but in boomer aesthetics
He has no political ideology or education. He doesn’t believe he is a mindless rube since he votes Dems only. There is no difference between their thinking and blindly voting republican thinking.

America has a problem with political ignorance, particularly among those who think they are more aware than they are.

I want to say that’s a positive, but the entire institution is rotten to the core. You’d need candidates who openly oppose Chuck Schumer and the current Democratic leadership, which makes their path to victory much harder. Just look at what they’re doing to Platner in Maine—the DSCC is running opposition research against him.

Senator Murphy, who apparently missed the memo that he is a feckless dem who capitulated to Trump and did this whole thing all for nothing, offered some words

Going off of how openly unhappy the tank and file are with Schumer right now, I think we're reaching that point.

And people can afford to pay double to quadruple their health care premiums?

If you're going to start something like this then finish it. If you won't finish it then don't start at all. This shutdown was pointless. It should have never happened.

The reason the republicans have the presidency, the supreme court, and congress is because when they start something they're getting their way period. If this situation was reversed they would have not caved in. You can't fight against a person that's willing to do whatever it takes to get their way when you simply aren't.

The reality is there is no fight to go on. The democrats have no way of getting anything from the republicans.

Ro (:mjlol:) already talking shyt. We just need somebody with ambitious career goals in the senate to get the revolt going and he’s outta here. Might be a rough 26 for Charles.

Unless someone whose actually in the senate openly starts disrespecting schumer i dont see this being the case. The current leadership Gillibrand Durbin Schatz all are locked in step. Schatz actually said on crooked con any capitulation would be a failure, im sure he will walk that back now that dems folded like a cheap suit to trump. Angus King making the rounds talking about you can't fight trump :mjlol:. This party is weak
