No tax on tips passes the Senate unanimously…Bipartisan stupidity.
Such awful policy. That's why I hate a lot of this performative "populism." No tax on tips is nothing but a gimmick that will cause more harm than good, especially because most low-wage workers don't even get tips, and many tipped workers already pay little or no income tax.

Worse yet, this could hurt efforts to raise wages, especially for tipped workers, while encouraging employers to shift more workers into roles that depend on tips. If we actually wanted to help working-class people, eliminating the sub-minimum wage would have been the way to do it.

shyt most tip based workers only report about 10-20% of their tips to begin with

When I delivered for Domino's back in the day they told us only to report like 10%

Do we even know what the law will be? I doubt it has any impact

Im guessing but it’s probably going to be able to deduct % of your tip income from your federal taxes. If that’s the case the standard deduction will still be used for most people that qualify
