"race" is just so inconsistent theres really no point arguing you will just go round and round in circles you got admixed African Americans who are darker than some indigenous africans.
a lot of east africans look straight up indian and some indians look black.

humans are all linked some how leave it at that:manny:

Are redheads and brunettes mixed why don't all white people have blonde hair and blue eyes?

True. Although, aren't Calabar people Igbos too?

Not quite. They're probably closely related though :ehh:

Very true I'm Edo and some can tend to be light, which has nothing to do with being mix. I have also seen light yorubas too who have siblings who are darker than them, so they aren't mixed. It's just that some people can't fathom that africans can very in looks. They believe so much in the stereotypical African that it blinds
them

My mom is Edo, Edo brehs I guess:obama:

There are indigenous tribes in Africa with light skin and it has nothing to do with Europeans or Arabs.

true. the bushmen are a perfect example. HOWEVER for tribes living near the equator, light skin should not exist. the fact some igbos are light skin means they probably are mixed. their neighbors the yoroba definitely ain't light skinned.

the only way two groups that live side by side can look different is if one has genes different than the other.

I've heard from some Nigerian guys on here and other boards that the vast majority of Igbo people are not even that light, and it's just internet weirdos paying the ones who are lightskinned a disproportionate amount of attention.

I only knew one Igbo in my life and she was light skin. cute chick too. hopefully those nigerians are just salty and lying cause i was looking forward to traveling to nigeria to mack on the light skin igbo and fulani girls.

Why are you talking about the equator ? Because of the sun ?

Every Igbo person (a few) I share with..you can share your DNA profiles..on DNA sites is 100% African and of a similar make up as other Nigerians. Even the mixed ones with white moms and African dads end up 50% African 50% European.

those ain't autosomal tests. just cause your y-DNA is African don't mean everyone you descent from was as well. no one on earth is 100% anything. even nikkas deep in the heart of africa have some non-african ancestry.

Why are you talking about the equator ? Because of the sun ?

usually places on earth near the equator get the most sunshine hence greater ultraviolet radiation hence the reason melanin evolved in the first place to protect us from skin cancer. the further you get from the equator the less exposure to the sun and the less need for melanin and dark skin. its the reason people on earth get lighter the further you move from the equator.

since nigeria is near the equator, that means most folks native to there should be dark skinned.....and they are. if a minority of people in nigeria are light skin, then i believe its a reasonable hypothesis to believe they are mixed. it makes no sense BIOLOGICALLY for all the neighbors of the Igbo to be dark skin and they only be light skin. unless their tribe recently moved into nigeria from farther north, they should also be dark skin.
