1. For some strange reason I had it in my head that raising kids would be easy...
the fuk was i thinking...it's rewarding though and well worth it.

2. NOT spanking kids. Some kids need "that" type of discipline, not all kids do though, but some...yeah. (not beatings either but a smack on the ass every couple years goes a long way.)

3. Sagging. In my youth I always thought i'd sag...

4. Buying new cars :smh: keep buying assets that depreciate upwards of 40-50% the first 30 seconds you own it.

5. NOT buying property. Buy some, it's reportedly now cheaper (http://ktar.com/22/1712426/Buying-home-cheaper-than-renting-in-Valley)

6. Making it means having money.

Gang violence...
i can no longer ignore what tariq nasheed is saying just because i dont agree 100%. i have issues with a few things, but he also addresses certain issues that few other black speakers or public intellectuals do, such as our over reliance on jesus to solve serious problems, or c00n tactics that are used to derail serious discussions among black people.

his latest podcast with the "c00n train" is hilarious, by the way

Being a first generation American (parents are African), I though America could be home, or at least a home away from home, so to speak. Now, I've been coming to the conclusion that I, and other black people regardless of background, been playing an away game all along.

Like many of you, I had high hopes race relations would make strong improvements. We all know what happened to that.

Also was quite optimistic on Barack, even volunteered for his campaign in '08. My faith in him began to fall ever since the healthcare situation though. When he didn't even bother to openly push for the public option, and didn't respond in force when the republicans were lying about the healthcare plan, that's when I knew something was up.

Used to chastise people for not voting. Now, I don't blame them. I vote mainly out of principle.

I'm much more aware of the perceptions strangers, specifically non-blacks, have of me due to the color of my skin.

Falsely believed that "dialogue" would help clear the air in race relations. However, it's pointless when the other side doesn't want to dialogue.

Realized just how Eurocentric our society--and the world--is. It's really crazy when you think about it.

Believed that, while there are white people that are racist, many are not. The reactions to the trayon Martin and Jordan Davis deaths and trials made me reconsider that. Not all white people are racist, but there are far more of them who want nothing to do with us.

Will post more as I think of them.

I have a feeling @Broke Wave will be upping this thread in a year or two concerning his chauvinist attitude towards our Shiite brothers.

HAHAHAHA yeah maybe man. I'm still evolving and becoming a new person every day. I can definitely be convinced of anything. As it stands though their power structures just seem to be inline with Israel and America :manny:

I was wrong about gays, I used to be homophobic as hell but now I'm on some "whatever" shyt. It's all good to me what you do anyway, very difficult for me to justify homophobia in the 21st century. Even if I think it is a sin (which I do), it's very far for me to judge people for sins.

I used to be a Neo-Con way back in the day as a youngin.

@Techniec I used to think there were cultural reasons for the problems in the Muslim world, and now I attribute it to colonialism due to my readings of Marx and others. Cultural relativism and all that. It's strange how we've come to opposite epiphanies. I stopped being a proud Canadian very very recently too. It's just Harper that did it for me. When he won the Majority it was the first time I felt like the Prime Minister of Canada wouldn't even look at me in the streets. He seems malicious and is generally a dikk in everything he does. We grew up with Chretien who by all accounts seemed like the coolest person ever. He had huge flaws but it was part of the whole "Canada the Cool" to have a Prime Minister like him. He was abrasive, honest (ha!), and stood up to America on Iraq. He really seemed like one of us. Harper's majority to me signifies the end of this thing. He just does not seem like an authentic person, rather he seems like an amalgamation of corporate and monied interests. His crime bill shows this, where there is no spike in crime in Canada, we build billions of dollars worth of prisons. Crime is at its lowest since the 70's. This to me ended my love for Canada.

this should have been his lead single imo:

and I don't even smoke like that...

I won't even front, I didn't even listen to the album of the strength of that Pharrel shyt when people were saying that's what he was going with for that album. So I've never even heard that song, Common's one of my 5 favorite emcees ever and I put him on probation from my top 10 for 6 months off the strength of that video :russ:

I was wrong about sarah palin being the 'genuine article'. I defended her to the hilt back in the day .I still believe she is not stupid ,I don't believe anyone from a lower middle class background can reach the heights she did without having above average intelligence, sound political acumen and charisma .If you are involved in politics even at a local level as Iam you will understand that.Politics these days is the most dirty, must cut throat ,most corrupt game on the planet. People who get to the top of the shyt pile or near the top, have not only done other people down and ruined them but are not fools.

I also still believe she prevented John mcain from losing bigger to Obama than he did,The polls before the 2008 crash suggest Iam right about that. I think those in the campaign who later blamed her were simply looking after their own careers and guess what they ended up working for mitt romney and we saw how that turned out for him...

What I was wrong about though, was I was convinced she genuinely wanted to go to washington become president and change things for the better, deal with 'crony capitalism', bring power back to the people , make politicians the servants of the people not the other way round.I thought she had high minded ideals, because as governor of alaska she was prepared to turn on her own party risking her own career and creating life long enemies in that state , and get several of them locked up for corruption, that she resigned as lieutenant governor before that in protest when her own party refused to deal with the corruption and then came back as governor to clean shyt up. . She was the democrats darling back then, before she ran against the then senator obama of course! What happened to her ?

I do believe she was targetted by the media ,more so than other politicians, but I simply think these days it was because she represented different corporate interests to the ones they wanted to control america .I also think, her talk about god, guns, abortion, many liberal minded people who work in the media personally disliked her. I also think because of her looks she attracted quite a bit of jealousy from female political commentators and talking heads. I was taken in by her speeches , and her tight ass and sexy teacher look, her folksy way of talking, her mavericky persona . I still think she is the most fukkable politician on the planet though.

No what she is really about is two things, dollars, grifting from those who donate to her 'PAC' making her and her family rich and powerful . and cheerleading for oil companies and other corporate interests. .She is no different to the rest of the shower of shyt we have laading western countries. And I count President Obama in that shower of shyt. He has been a total disappointment as well. Maybe the only thing he and sarah palin have in common.
