Suit yourself but the story they are using is pretty dope tbh, and the showrunner is a die hard fan. No way he messes it up. In fact, Ryan Condal should have been the one to replace Dan and Dave.

But to keep it funky if he would have actually COMPLETED the goddamn saga he would have had more leverage to get more seasons. Fans wouldn't have tolerated the deviations that Benioff and Weiss got away with if there were more source material to adapt.
I explained this to a friend of mine. Once they ruined the ending-- those prequels lost most of their appeal. Because the audience now knows that the events of the prequel essentially amounts to nothing. It's a completely different situation if GOT had a proper epic conclusion. Even though they shyt the bed with the SW prequels, the OG trilogy was so dope you couldn't help but be fascinated with the idea of how it all came to be. Imagine a HP trilogy that was only about the war leading up to Voldermort's first loss. nikkas would watch that, because the story reached a satisfying conclusion.
It's not too late for HBO to retcon if we're being honest. The actors certainly wouldn't turn down the paychecks. They should go back to the beginning of Season 7 and start all over with GRRM writing the eps like he did prior to S5. fukk the books at this point.
