It’d be cool if we had someone on thecoli that was part of the people who either accepted or rejected PPP loan proposals.

seems like the government was giving out money without doing background checks. Anybody could get money.

Almost like a setup :mjpls:

I know The Judge Group (staffing agency) were offering short term gigs for people to overlook and verifying PPP paperwork. I know that because one of their recruiters randomly called me about a month before the final rollout falling to me about it. Have no clue how they even found my resume.

Only even entertained the conversation as I needed to know when the PPP loan was coming out for my parents business :russ:

I spoke with someone from the SBA after the PPP money ran out and he said that they weren’t doing background checks or verifying paperwork as they should have flagged a lot of those documents as fraud the moment they were submitted. Also heard that they only cared to help big businesses qualify for the loan instead of smaller ones so I know that people were falsifying documents and information about business revenue.

Honestly, the majority of people who get caught with PPP Fraud aren't going to serve any jailtime. At most, they'll pay back what they got plus a 1% penalty. It's too many people who did the PPP Fraud and not enough time and resources for courts to prosecute them all.
The government doesn’t have to do much work to catch the fraud

it’s a forgivable loan if your prove that the money was spent on payroll, rent or utilities

if you never submitted your app for the loan to get forgiven then you are in debt to the government

There lies the problem.

A lot of people aren't going to know how to do the forgiveness application as they got someone else to do the original application for them. Why would that person care to help them with the forgiveness process if they've already gotten their bread from them?
