Obviously, it matters what his ethnicity is, unless you think a white man who committed the same crimes would be subject to a similar penalty.

Again you trying too hard. That man was pulling off home invasions while being on PAROLE FOR ROBBING PEOPLE. Dude is a complete fool, take off the damn cape.

Where am I excusing what he’s been convicted of or denying the validity of those charges? I am asking why presumably black people in this thread are celebrating this man’s sentence, when the penalty would be far less for a white man under similar circumstances. It’s an example of not being on code. :francis:

Nobody celebrating shyt, we just don't have no sympathy for motherfukkas violating people's personal spaces.

Let another black man rob you or yours with a weapon and let's see if you talk that stay on code shyt then.

No, you are not considering the well being of citizens. You're making the mistake of viewing punishment as an action that results in protection. The correct way of viewing things is a particular action resulting in both punishment and protection.

To detain someone indefinitely for the sake of punishment is arguably cruel (it would depend on the crime committed). However recognising the continued threat someone who committed armed robbery, whilst on parole for armed robbery, presents and detaining them for life is pragmatic.
Yes, I'm still considéring the well being of citizens. If I did not I would not be advocating for a long sentence (20 or 25 years for instance) for the crime this guy did. Taking a third of someone lifetime is already enough. I'm not saying he should walk or being given 2 years.

If we agree that the punishment is harsh for this crime and that the point here is protection, it means that you assume that there is no hope for him to change and that he should be kept out of the streets. In that case, everyone committing two violent crimes, like he did, should be locked up for life, even if they did not kill anyone. What's the point of getting them out at any moment? In fact, what's the point of keeping them alive? They should be killed immediately after the second sentence. They won't be a menace anymore and the society won't be paying for their food and surveillance.

I think society should punish crime and protect its citizens, but it should do it by managing a minimum space for rehabilitation. For that reason, punishment should reasonable and gradual. He did a crime? Send him to jail. He did it again? Multiply that sentence by 4 or 5. It's enough in this case. There is an equilibrium to find between protection/punishment and rehabilitation.

White people send us into a recession and bankrupt millions of families, only paying a fine with the money they stole, but brehs are happy to see a brother spend the rest of his life in prison for armed robbery. :francis:

He even wore the dude’s gloves while robbing him :snoop:

“...The following day, the Jurevicius family had just finished dinner when Joe Jurevicius noticed a light on in the barn behind his home and went outside to check. That's where Howse forced him to open a safe while he held a gun to the back of his head, according to prosecutors. Jurevicius said the man repeatedly threatened to shoot him.

"For 30 minutes, I was terrorized," Jurevicius told the judge. "I thank God every day that it was me, and not my wife and two young kids, who walked into that barn."

Prosecutors said Howse put on Jurevicius' Super Bowl gloves so he wouldn't leave fingerprints. He stole a gun, alcohol and camera equipment while demanding cash. The former wide receiver even offered his Super Bowl ring.

"Robert Howse wore the damn gloves that I wore in the Super Bowl while my kid was fighting for his life," Jurevicius said. His son Michael died as an infant...”
