Yeah the ring is underwhelming by a womans standards......how does she/we know there isnt some story behind the ring (maybe it was in the family, passed down generations,etc).......then again, maybe it did have that sentimental value and she decided it still wasn't good enough.

Im 35 now, years ago I proposed with a ring that was my grandmothers and passed down several generations. My fiancee at the time was very appreciative and touched that I gave her something that held great sentimental value. Years later after things didnt work (I was 23 at the time, she was 20...dated since 19 and 16 and I guess she wasn't as ready as I thought) she was kind enough to return the ring on her own and thanked me for the gesture.......
