FWIW, the 99 pace this year is pretty much the same as what the NBA averaged for MJ's first 10 years, from 102 in 1985/86 to 97 in 1992/93, all the way up until his 1st retirement. The super slow NBA era (pace under 94) was from 1995-2015.


The big increase in scoring is because turnovers are down and 3pts are up along with a return to late 80s/early 90s pace.
