FWIW, the pace this year (99) is pretty much the same as what the NBA averaged for MJ's first 10 years (97-102), all the way up until his 1st retirement. The super slow NBA era (pace under 94) was from 1995-2015.


The big increase in scoring is because turnovers are down and 3pts are up along with a return to late 80s/early 90s pace.

MJ's stats from 97/98 aren't even comparable to this era cause they had to shorten the 3pt line those years just so they could actually hit a three.
