No hate or pocketwatching but im seeing ppl bragging about getting 5 digit refunds and im wondering if people know what the "refund" in tax refund means..... :dwillhuh:

Me personally i would rather not overpay the government in the first place but everyone is different I guess

I only got back $80. I'm an accountant though, i would look like an idiot if i got huge refund. No finance person is letting the government hold on to their money interest free for an entire year when you can just keep it the whole time.

For a lot of people, giving the government that money tax free and receiving it back in a lump sum is more helpful than it spread out over the course of a year....

Youre talking about psychology and habits.

Technically you be better off with any other scenario

I'm an accountant as well. Got back $200.

Most Americans are financially illiterate.
