Usually like minded people are around each other

so typically "bragging about a tax refund" people aren't really surrounded by people who owe the government for their taxes

so if everyone you know or hang around with is getting a tax refund, bragging about getting a higher one would make sense :manny:

I only got back $80. I'm an accountant though, i would look like an idiot if i got huge refund. No finance person is letting the government hold on to their money interest free for an entire year when you can just keep it the whole time.

I'm an accountant as well. Got back $200.

Most Americans are financially illiterate.
Put me up on game brehs. :feedme: What can I do to limit them taking out so much bread over the year in taxes?

No hate or pocketwatching but im seeing ppl bragging about getting 5 digit refunds and im wondering if people know what the "refund" in tax refund means..... :dwillhuh:

I wouldn't make a thread but im seeing it alot rn.

Me personally i would rather not overpay the government in the first place but everyone is different I guess
i think you can make like 20 grand a year, but if you have kids you just get free money in the form of a tax credit. so those people "won" :dead:

but yeah, ill never agree with people who want smaller checks and a big refund. there's nothing heroic about getting a tax return :heh:

True, but when I was living paycheck to paycheck it was a lot easier on my mind and health to overpay a little each check than to worry about owing, having a penalty, etc., come January. Even after my come up, the thought process is the same.

Chill when you From The Trenches that shyt is a lifesaver

Im not against the idea of lump sums, i hear you.

But hear me out too. With about as long as it takes to fill out your takes, you can setup part of your direct deposit to put money in even a basic savings acount and any day could technically be "refund day" if u want.

Im not saying its not useful, im saying bragging about it makes no sense.

Its like buying a couch or 5k, returning it, getting 5k backk 9 months later and being like "just got 5k :myman:"

This is reasonable. I can understand this.

However this is still different than bragging. This is just being cautious
