They chose to represent France because it gives them greater international exposure(and they had the talent to make it through the French football academies) than representing their parents' countries.

A good example of this is Paul Pogba while he has been covered by every sports media repping the French than his two brothers represeting Guinea.

Ghana needs a restart it's better that a lot of Western African countries when I was there this summer I still got the vibe that corruption was rife and especially with the last one Mahama. It's slow economic growth was caused to a lack of good electricity access. African FAs are notorious for bad governance and administration. I have heard stories of players not getting paid or having to book their own tickets to get to Africa and play in qualifier meaningful matches. Why objectively would you risk injury to play for the country of your parents or your country of birth when your club earnings are your primary earnings. Remember what happened to the Togolese team in Cabinda, Angola where the bus was shot up and the FA was so insensitive to the event that Adebayor was forced to retire internationally for a while. When you add all these factors and the influence of parents who left the country for a reason, they are more likely to play for their adopted country and I don't blame them some times.
