This is why Supreme Clientele is arguably my least favorite of his classics and the one I don't revisit much outside of an occasional song or two because, lyrically, it's a very forgettable album and that's not because of his rhymes being wack or anything; it's top-tier rapping, but rather because he was saying a whole lot of nothing. I honestly remember the beats more than the lyrics.

Ironman will always be his best album to me because he was at his peak in terms of his lyrics being thematically top tier similar to Rae during that era, and if I had to rank Ghost's top 5 albums or just his whole discography, it'd go like this...

Ironman
36 Seasons
Fishscale
Bulletproof Wallets
Supreme Clientele
Twelve Reasons to Die (The Brown Tape)
Pretty Toney
Twelve Reasons to Die
Apollo Kids
The Big Doe Rehab
Twelve Reasons to Die 2
Sour Soul
Ghost Files (Bronze/Propane Tapes)
Ghostdini: Wizard of Poetry in Emerald City
The Lost Files

There are a few, particularly his newer stuff, that I've never really gotten around to, and some of the above I haven't listened to in a while, so my ranking might be a little sketchy:yeshrug:.

Ghost is the type of artist who is better when he has a theme set in motion; on Ironman he was clearly going for a 70s Blaxploitation vibe, and it worked perfectly; on 36 Seasons, he's rapping as a man coming back home after a long stint with an old head 70s vibe. Fishscale and Bulletproof Wallets also have a theme from beginning to end.

Obviously, a few others are self-explanatory.

I said in a previous thread that that’s part of the beauty of it to me. It’s my all time favorite album and I play it regularly still like it just dropped. I never tried to do any deep dive on it, it just sounds fresh. I think part of the fact I don’t really know what most of it means together keeps me coming back. I’m always pulling another sound bite out in my head.

Tony Starks was on some other OTHER shyt with that album. Still makes more sense than these other mush mouth tricking rappers of today.
