I talked to PLO Style in '96 at Newark Penn Station and he was saying how the Wu was cool with Face and they had just came back from Houston. I guess they became excepted over time. As someone who was in Texas during the time Killah described I can tell you we wasn't thinking about the Wu. It's just wasn't our thing at all. You can get love being from the East but the South and West had a deeper impact on us. They way the Wu got down was on some far out ish to us and we just wasn't into it.

One of my best friends in life was at that show.

It's funny to hear it from the Wu Side

East Coast was largely over in 1 year after dominating since the inception, crazy...but Houston didn't really have rap on the FM dial until 90-91, when 97.9 came in. #'s look so good even Magic 102 started playing rap during regular hours.

So if you were like me, you still listened to the east coast and all the other coasts....but a lot folks that was hot in 91 were ice cold in 92/93.

Wu Tang was not popping in Houston at that point.
Protect Ya Neck and Method Man were getting love on college radio, but they were not playing on 97.9.

Small Club.

I hadn't heard of the show, so I didn't go.

But homie did. Happened just like GFK said it did.
