What did Pimp C say about where the real South is? Central Time Zone. I can’t speak for Atlanta, but I know nikkas from Dallas and Htown both that say POP. Shreveport and Monroe too. Oh and definitely Memphis and North Mississippi.

Edit: “Let me get a waterfall off your Pop, Dawg.”, was a common irk growing up. You couldn’t enjoy your drink without hearing that shyt in the hood in the 80s, 90s, and 00s when I was growing up.

Folks low key don't even consider Texas the south south. That shyt is GA, SC, AL, LA, and MS. Then throw in NC. Essentially the Black Belt states.

:patrice: I don't know then. I was heavy in Memphis back in the 80s - mid 90's visiting fam and etc. Coke was the main drink (pop/soda) off rip, cats down there didn't mess with Pepsi at all. I dont recall hearing Pop that much, mainly Soda. But like you say it could be regional, Pop is just a short saying of Soda Pop. I cant really speak on anything outside of that, yall southern brothas will have to figure it out:mjgrin::pachaha:

I did the same, Memphis is only 1.5 hrs away from Little Rock so that was our go to (Dallas too (5.5 hrs), but MTown especially) You hit the nail on the head though. My Ma said it was called Soda Pop by their group (60s babies) until around the late 70s when it shortened to Pop, but my Auntie stayed saying Soda til this day , she was/is the only one. nikkas don’t realize how big the South is and how different one place is to the next.

Texas so big, I always considered it an independent region lol.

SOME ppl even refrain from calling kentucky and tennessee fully south, so they came up with "mid-south".

I got a lotta ppl from Tennessee, and I definitely put them in the "south" category:pachaha:

I don’t care what “folks consider”, we’re speaking facts and East, South, and Central Arkansas/West Tennessee is definitely part of the Black Belt. We’re speaking facts, not consideration. Arkansas is the South and East Texas is too. It’s retarded to not see it as such.

Bruh pop is Midwest, and cats trying to slice and dice the south, if you below the Mason Dixon you are southern, now how much influence you got from other areas or their own culture then so be it

Right, West Texas is not the South while East Texas is.The Mid-South was a necessary moniker because we’re like brothers in culture with the South except the parts that touch the Midwest. Central, South, and East Arkansas (The Sip Delta) is a whole different Animal than North and West Arkansas which are a little Midwestern influenced and white.

In 2017, we traveled through a few states in the south and stopped in each one we passed through on down to florida. There is definitely distinctions.
