If J.R Smith is having one of his horrid stretches what is he exactly doing out there? His defense is shyt these days and the whole stretch the floor argument only works with a consistent shooter. He can't dribble or create for anyone either.

You're underrating his defense something serious; he is prone to giving away silly fouls and making the odd miscue, but he'll always work hard and chase players around screens, Wade isn't doing that, and neither is Rose. The "whole stretch the floor" argument doesn't just work with someone who's a consistent shooter, if that were the case then folk wouldn't even guard him at all - but they do. He's a threat by just being out there, because of the spacing he provides. Teams don't even bother to send constant assignments to Rose and Wade when they're above the arc. All Wade's doing out there when he gets the ball is dribbling and trying to back down his man. He isn't effective without the ball, and neither is Rose. You can't have two guards out there on the floor who can't stretch the floor and who aren't effective without the ball, especially with LeBron in the lineup.

It's a recipe for disaster.

Cavs are simply not winning a title with this level of defensive effort. Not to mention that there are multiple players who are bad defenders even when they give their 100%

It's mind boggling that neither of them developed a three point shot, especially with as much physical punishment they take/took attacking the rim. The game would be so much easier for them. LeBron worked to become at least respectable. Wade and Rose were both like "f*ck it, we'll play 90s ball until we get dragged off the court".
