I made the mistake of watching a PBS nature special last year and saw two komodo dragons trying to attack some sort of buffalo that was huge compared to them. The buffalo was massive and I'm watching thinking these stupid dragons are just staring at the buffalo...no way can it take down something this size but they just kept staring at it from afar. Then the narrator came on talking about they just need to get close enough to bite it. The first day they couldn't but the next day one managed to get close enough to distract it while the other quickly bit it but the buffalo didn't react and didn't go down. The narrator came on again talking about the venom will slowly start weakening the buffalo until it's too weak to fight back.
These dragons trailed that thing for days and days all within eyesight of that poor buffalo until it finally died.
Both literally and figuratively...
