Larry called him the goat because no matter how you guarded him he can go and do whatever he wants on the court:wow:
it has nothing to do with his or Kareems resume.

I remember they asked pippen how to guard guy's like Durant and bron, he was on some ill force them the opposite way they feel comfortable and sit on their dominant hand.:yeshrug:

They asked him about mj, he was like you can't shade or give mj a direction cuz he'll disappear and dunk on you:gucci:

Gotta play him squared with your back to the basket:hubie:

Top 3 goat defender who practiced with this nikka for 10 plus years was on some I don't even know :unimpressed:for the correct position to guard him. Just think about that:mjtf:

You compare resumes when players are close, Kareem dominated, Jordan was taking all time greats mind body and souls :picard:

Bobby knight in college giving pointers on what to with mj

Knight’s instructions to Dakich were simple: “Just don’t let him dunk on you. That will embarrass me and you both.”

:unimpressed: sounds like he broke Bobby knight before even playing him

Men lie, women lie, accolades lie, numbers lie, goats gone goat regardless:mjgrin:
That crazy redneck Bobby Knight even called him the GOAT before his first NBA game (during the 1984 Olympics)!

The NBA marketed the fukk out of MJ, but at the same time, MJ really was THAT NIKKA.It was the perfect storm.MJ's still the greatest player I've ever witnessed with my own eyes.

Kobe came the closest.Far as competitive nature, but he was a slower, clunkier version athletically. And Kobe wasn't no slouch in that area.He was a very good athlete, but I wouldn't

call him a phenom.I don't know if we'll ever see a player who's the most technical/fundamentally sound, while at the same time being the most superior athletically in the sport.

On top of having a maniacal, psychopathic drive to win.Mike was just a different breed.

I think one of his biggest accomplishments was making Chicago relevant. That team used to be a refuge for NBA rejects: cokeheads and washed-up players collecting their final NBA paychecks.

Dude was the leader right away from training camp as a rookie (and proved it on the court).
Larry Bird said that going to Chicago used be an easy W, but it suddenly became dogfights when he got there (despite an inferior squad).

That's called being a number 1 option:mjlol:

More proof curry can't carry shyt:lolbron:
Hes right didnt plan around stopping MJ/Kobe/Duncan they just let them get theirs :deadmanny:
Except no player in NBA history has been defended like that. Or do you seem to think that since Steph is the greatest shooter OAT that teams don't defend him differently? Don't you think that since teams understand the value of a 3 v. 2 that they'd rather give up a two-point shot to another player, rather than Steph shooting a 3?

Y'all keep bringing up this nonsense about him not being able to carry a team, when not are y'all wrong in a traditional sense, but teams have been forcing the ball out of his hands the moment he crosses halfcourt, to stop him from shooting 3s, and living with the consequences of what his teammates will produce in the postseason for the last five years.

KD was literally getting wide-open dunks in the Finals because the Cavs were running to the 3-pt line to defend Steph when he didn't even have the ball.

Teams weren't doing that with Kobe, or MJ, or Duncan.

Teams weren't shadowing Kobe or MJ or Duncan beyond the arc due to being scared of getting overrun by 3-pt shots; teams weren't surrounding Kobe or MJ or Duncan all over the halfcourt, with or without the ball; teams weren't playing gimmicky defenses like the box-and-one on Kobe or MJ or Duncan.

OF COURSE... MJ WAS INCREDIBLE. ITS JUST THAT, AS RARE AS IT IS, WE HAVE SEEN THAT LEVEL OF GOATNESS, DESPITE THE NARRATIVES MEDIA & MARKETING PUSHED.. DONT FORGET, KAREEM STILL HAS THE MOST UNGUARDABLE SIGNATURE SHOT OF ALL TIME. THE TOP 5 ARE INTERCHANGEABLE AT GOAT IMO.

There is only so much a player that size can do. Steph maximized it with his shooting and handles and IQ. He had the perfect team around him with multiple secondary ball handlers and quality defenders, another GOAT tier shooter, and a bunch of vets that knew their roles...and then they added KD. And the rules were set up in their favor. It was a perfect storm to make him look GOAT. Now the storm has passed and he doesn't look quite the same. This happens a lot in sports, where people attribute all that goes on around a player to that player. This is especially true when the other players don't have a certain level of recognition or resume. People then either act like they aren't doing the things that they themselves are actually doing or attribute it all to the star in question. It happened with Mike, although he demonstrated his own individual transcendence regardless of what was around him. It happened with Kobe. He did the same, although obviously not to the same degree. It happened with Jeter. It's happening with Brady as we speak. People tend to only acknowledge all the variables when it is convenient. If KD never got hurt and stayed healthy, folks woulda been ready to call Curry full fledged GOAT in a couple years.
