hold it is he getting paid more than lebron:lolbron:
damn arenas had 1 hot year and he's still banking from it :russ:

Arenas was arguably in the top 10 of players from 2004-2007. He was dropping nearly 30 points and 6 dimes breh. He was unconscious and got into the lane at will. His shot had unlimited range and he was clutch. When he put his mind to it, he could be a decent defender but he slacked off and only played the passing lanes by gambling. The Wizards from 2004-2008 were lucky to have Brendan Haywood who was a good defender protecting the rim but no one could mask Jamison and Arenas on the defensive end.

Plus, you all gotta remember he signed this contract in 2008 for 6 years $111 million. Gilbert was about to get the full blown max of $127 but gave up $16 million to help the team :lolbron: .. Golden State offered him 5 years $90 million I believe. This was also the year after Gerald Wallace fell on him and screwed up his knee. Gilbert barely played in 2007-2008 and came back briefly in the 2008 playoffs vs. CLE but wasn't in shape and the team made the postseason without him so the chemistry wasn't there. His knee also needed more attention :snoop: Wizards medical staff ruined him... which is why if you're a Bulls fan you can't be too mad at D-Rose for taking his time. I'd rather have my star take his team in rehabbing instead of rushing back. Gilbert messed up in his rehab the first time, then Eddie Jordan played him so many minutes to start 2007-2008, then he needed surgery again. He came back for the playoffs but he wasn't the same. Then he needed ANOTHER procedure and he came back at the end of 2008-2009. It's just sad how that whole ordeal went. Gilbert isn't even old. He's only 31 years old right now and at the time he was 26-27 years old. :to: He could have returned back to form with proper rehab and management from the team.

They flipped Gilbert for Rashard Lewis' contract which expired this past season. Then they traded his contract for Okafor and Ariza who are expiring after this upcoming season. So for the Wizards, they still are paying the same amount of money but right now its for 2 defensive minded role players instead of a shell of Gilbert Arenas.
