Ray is pretty much what a lot of people hope not to be, yet seem destined to be. Smart, but not enough drive and reaching that 'moment of truth' after the best years of your life have passed you by.

It's amazing how naive Marnie still is. And the scene in the wine cellar was horrific to watch, not the best acting job. The phone convo at the end was great though.

This episode made up for last weeks which might've been the worst episode I've seen. In fact, none of the episodes with Hannah solo have been good. She's literally the least interesting character on this show, and by far the most annoying. Well, after Jessa. Can't stand her either.

WOW @ the 5th ep! I've been catching up but didn't really have a comment to make. This one, I had to comment.

I understand what she tried to do, I really did, and I feel the vibe she was putting out.

It had to be gratuitous, it had to be annoying - someone finally putting up with her true self, she knew she was annoying and fat and ugly, but somehow this perfect guy still put up with her and it rocked her world, she had to come to terms how she was like everyone else. Something was holding her back not allowing her to feel emotion, these 'pedestrian emotions' everyone else feels but either she was too different or too good for, but here she finally realizes she's not on earth to 'tell stories' - she tricked herself into believing she was different and special, and now she's not.

Despite the epiphany she has, the gratuitous nudity and general suspension of disbelief taken in doesn't allow the episode to work. She's too low on the scale, he's too high on the scale. This would never happen. But I understand where she was coming from. Ultimately flawed execution, but it's not her fault she's the way she is, and it's not her fault that's what she imagines a dream guy to be.

Definitely a bit of a vanity episode, so much was unnecessary, but I understand why she'd think it's all necessary. But then again, this probably means the critical acclaim went to her head.

I agree but I wonder if he was just into her because she was giving up the puss so freely.

Also I would hit that chunky ass :manny:

This is also kinda part of it. What guy doesn't want any female just coming up to him giving it up within 5 minutes? No fuss even if she ain't a looker. If that happened regularly no one would have any aspirations to do anything for themselves (that's another topic however) - but basically he was just happy to take what literally came up to his doorstep, but the whole emotional aspect of it was too much.

She has to be trolling with some of the stuff, she's self-aware enough to do it (that's the whole shtick after all) but if it's not trolling and she thinks she's some kind of 'voice of a generation' rather than 'writer of a pretty good tv show', then we've got some issues.
