CP3 won’t happen and do we even want it to happen ?![]()
I don't think the Lakers will keep KCP. He probably wants to get paid and they want to clear cap room for 2021. Unless AD signs a 1+1 and opts out, they can't keep him and still have cap space to sign a big star next year.
If AD really does get a 2 year deal to take advantage of the 10 year max, they should sign and trade Pope. Package him with a first round pick, Kuzma, and McGee and get someone on an expiring like Oladipo.
I don't know if Oladipo would fit too well.
IF WE LET KCP & MCGEE GO AND TRADE KUZMA & GREEN FOR SOME FUTURE PICKS
DO WE HAVE THE MONEY TO SIGN GALLO + JERAMI + COUSINS AND THEN RESIGN KIEFF?
PG LEBRON...RONDO/COOK
SG BRADLEY...CARUSO/THT
SF GALLO...KIEFF
PF AD...GRANT/KOSTAS
C COUSINS...DWIGHT
+ 1ST & 2ND ROUND PICK
THIS WILL REPEAT IMO
The Lakers will probably have the mid-level exception ($9,755,000 a year) and the bi-annual exception ($4,008,900 a year). They could probably snag Gallo with the MLE but I think Grant will command more then that.
RIGHT .. BUT TRADING GREEN AND KUZ WOULD FREE UP THAT SPACE THO, WOULDNT IT?
Yeah but the timetable is the issue here. If you want cap space for next year you can't sign Jerami Grant because he's gonna want a long-term deal.
It could work, but the problem would be that you'd have to 1. Convince AD to take a 1+1 and opt out next year instead of a 2+1 to get the 10 year supermax in 2022, and 2. Make sure Bron opts out of his 39 mil player option after next season.
It's possible, but I don't know if Pelinka would risk signing Jerami Grant and possibly forgo big game hunting in 2021 FA when he has no idea if AD and Bron will opt out or not.
