My girl is a teacher and I was shocked how much she has to come out of pocket to make sure her students have the shyt they need in the classroom because the school doesn't provide it

Not anyone can be a *good* teacher. That's the point. Also it's easier to become a teacher than a lawyer because there is a massive teacher shortage. If the job was so great there wouldn't be such a shortage.
Thats not why its easier, Being a lawyer requires WAY more, this shows ya lack of understanding of this issue.

Teachers starting out make $30,000 here. It's one of the reasons I went into restaurant management coming out of college instead even tho I majored in history. My mother has been a Baltimore City school teacher for 40 years and is getting ready to retire. Currently she makes just a little more than me. But she loves what she does. You really have to when you get paid little, work in an underfunded environment, and have to deal with kids coming from fukked up homes. Oh yea and deal with shytty parents who want you to raise their kids but won't let you discipline them. That's why nobody wants to do it and school systems have to hire foreigners to fill positions. Teachers and fire fighters should be getting paid right up there with healthcare professionals imoTeachers here make $75k+. Oh, how will they ever survive?
Thats more than enough for people who are not subject to performing well to keep a job. No Child Left Behind made it so they have practically no standard of required excellence, built in excuses and zero accountability. Teachers are the cacs of the workforce.

I wish you guys would stop pushing the lie that teaching is a guaranteed job for life. It guarantees due fukking process and that you can't get thrown out on your ass for being a minority or because the principal's kid wants a job. Even so, it is quite easy to get rid of an "incompetent" teacher. However, too many admins are too lazy to document and complete the process.
For fukk's sake you don't get "paid" in the summer. It is your paycheck for 10 months work spread throughout the summer. Some districts do not even have this option so those teachers go without a check in the summer months.
You have education "reformers" fleecing the public, jackin' millions, and putting rules in place that strain schools while ya'll busy blaming teachers.
Like I said, if it is so cushy and easy just become one and enjoy![]()

.Simeon, lotta memories there. I didn't even go thereBullshyt my nikka. Maybe where you are at. Big cities, that shyt doesn't matter where you work in the district. Your salary comes from the union bargaining agreement. If you are a Chicago Public School Teacher, the teachers at Simeon are making the same money as the ones in Lincoln Park.
And when teachers were teaching their own curriculums, they were failing at providing adequate substance to their students which is why the Feds decided that they weren't going supplement schools with additionally money that they already got from the city and state unless they held a higher standard. Thus more standardized testing and guidelines to hold them responsible. The problem was instead of it having a positive effect, schools decided to push students through as to not lose the additional fed funds as opposed to actually using it as the fed funds were intended to be used. Thus No Child Left Behind exposed how the school system has been taking advantage of it instead of utilizing it. It's about
It's basically like your parents giving you money all the time and they realize you blowing it on bullshyt like weed. They tell you they won't give you money anymore unless you prove to them that you are spending it on what they gave it to you for thinking it will help you follow the right path. Instead of doing that, you got better at CS7 and photoshopped the shyt outta fake bills you paid so they keep giving you money. They made you a better liar and con artist instead of facilitating you being more responsible.
Teachers Union and School systems y'all.![]()
No, it's not easy to get rid of a teacher in most states. It's nearly impossible. It's tough enough to get rid of a teacher that is accused and/or convicted of having sex with a student.
No one is saying they get "paid in the summer". They way your describing it makes the teachers pay look even better. Getting that amount of money for 10 months of work instead of 12 months..
Again, MANY teachers start off getting paid pretty well, with good benefits, great time off including personal time and vacations, as well as having incredible job security, as much as you want to claim they do not. Certain school districts have proposed paying teachers more if they get rid of tenure and make it easier to get rid of an incompetent teacher. Guess what the teachers decided to do? That's right, they decided to keep their tenure and make it nearly impossible to fire them because their jobs are as safe as can be, and they know they can teach like shyt and keep their job..
I'm not arguing with you. If you're gonna keep pushing the lie that it is impossible to fire a teacher it is clear you don't know wtf you're talking about.Teachers starting out make $30,000 here. It's one of the reasons I went into restaurant management coming out of college instead even tho I majored in history. If we had a lawyer shortage, society would make it easier to become one. Supply and demand.

I was going to respond to this, but I'm not about to go back and forth with you. I'll cite your post history as a reason why. I'll also say that if you really believe that your kid can get all that they need to live from the Chicago streets that I pray for their health and safety. God bless.Whose gone pay for their raises
Cuz if it's me, fukk that my kid can learn shyt from the streets![]()
I actually fukks with you in the Film Room and Arcadium so I'll just say that I respectfully disagree. Most teachers, anywhere, do not start off making 75k. And teachers who do, usually have been working for some considerable amount of time. Part of working for that considerable amount of time is having to have satisfactory ratings and remaining in good standing at your school/districts. Also, you have No Child Left Behind twisted if you think that any teacher is in favor of it. No child left behind actually makes it harder for us to do our jobs as far as delivering meaningful content and not just teaching to a test. With NCLB there was more of an emphasis placed on standardized testing, but discounts the inherent biases in testing, the dis-proportionality of resources to certain areas. If you want to see what fukked up really looks like, take the time and look into what companies like Pearson have done to the educational landscape. As for zero accountability, you couldn't be more wrong, breh. Legit.Teachers here make $75k+. Oh, how will they ever survive?

That isn't a terrible idea... On paper.im for raising teacher pay nicely, and cutting their pensions. and that goes for most public employees
these fukking pension systems are sucking us dry. pay people more up front and let them plan for their retirement like everyone else.
Again. Not true at all. All tenure does is guarantee you due process as opposed to, let's say a Charter school. They have "at will" employment and can fire you any time, any where, for any reason. With tenure, principals need to cite a teacher's continuous fukking up on the job before they can fire them. All that sounds like to me is the end of a probationary period. Also, tenure isn't granted automatically; at least not in NYC. Also, I've of many teachers that are actually discontinued by their principals (fired) if they do't get tenure in that time. So the notion that you can't get fired after 3 years is ridiculous. Please stop spreading this lie.
you cant even fukkin fire them after three years. they can cry me a river![]()
Two things:basically teachers don't even have to put in any effort anymore. they just follow the bare minimum to get these kids a passing grade.
when i was in 9th grade my teacher use to always complain about bein broke and being underpaid. then i found out like after high school he made 70K a year. and on top of that his wife was a teacher also. that was when the cost of living was substantially lower as well. lol but he was a good teacher i'll give him that.
In many states, teachers do not get paid during the summer. And again the job security notion is a fallacy. Also, if you get fired, you don't get a severance package and depending on what you did to get fired, you can lose your pension. Where the hell do you think these folks work, Goldman Sachs? There's no golden parachute in education... Again, please stop spreading this lie.Saying they get the summers off and have all of these vacation days is not "dumb shyt". If they are getting 15-25% of the year off compared to a typical 9-5 working job, then they SHOULD be paid less. Not only are you wrong about all teachers getting paid like crap, but you seem to conveniently ignore the ridiculous job security they have.
You can pretty much rape a student and it takes months, if not years to fire the teacher, if they can even fire them. They will get a nice severance package and pension when they get the boot as well..
They deserve slightly more in some areas, but they have a no skill job. If graduated high school you can theoretically be a teacher for some grade level. Honestly why should a first grade teacher giving out gold stars and helping kids learn to write capital letters make 75k. Anybody can do that same job, it does not require much.

Bro, I don't know where this 75k stuff came from. Seriously. And I know folks who have been teaching for years. Good teachers who have forgotten more about the art than I'll ever know who say that the emphasis (not so much the tests themselves, but the weight put on them) on testing has fukked things up.Money gets taken from teachers' monthly salary and spread out throughout the year to cover for the offtime. And this is only optional.
Also, teachers who teach in the hood do not make $75k.
If you ask any good teacher, they will tell you that they despise standardised tests and would much rather teach their own curriculum.
You're entitled to your opinion on how much we should make. That's your business. I love sports and I always find it funny when someone says a guy shouldn't make the money he's making. I believe that you're worth the money someone is willing to pay you. I don't blame anyone for going for more bread. What I will say that I'll take offense to is the notion that there's no accountability. That shyt is just not true.I don't even care about they're schedule or if summers are off etc. Not even saying it's an easy job. I'm saying they make enough and most certainly for a profession that has practically no accountability and benefits comparable to other significant unions. Teachers not "making enough" is one of the biggest misconceptions pushed only for ratings by the media because of the hysterics it causes. It's a lightning rod topic.
Is that on teachers? Or the system? Maybe your parents should have taught you better money management skills than continuing to throw money at the problem (using your analogy). No one is against holding teachers, not even teachers. Teachers are more critical of each other than any of you guys in here. The problem is that the system isn't working. And attitudes like ones that many posters espouse in this thread don't help. There is already a horrible, horrible, horrible view towards intellectualism in this country. Look at the shyt that we value and glorify. Then, on top of that, you devalue the teacher, what the hell do you think is going to happen. Look at other countries who outrank us in Education. How do you think they do it?Bullshyt my nikka. Maybe where you are at. Big cities, that shyt doesn't matter where you work in the district. Your salary comes from the union bargaining agreement. If you are a Chicago Public School Teacher, the teachers at Simeon are making the same money as the ones in Lincoln Park.

Breh, I'm not saying for daps, reps, pounds or whatever. No one here knows my name or the school I work at, but listen to me, I literally, buy pencils, pens, notebooks, bottled water and snacks to keep in my classroom, because I got kids who come to school without having ate and don't have any school supplies. I've bought uniform pants for a kid because he was getting roasted because he had holes in the thigh area. I have paid for copies of books for the classroom library out of my own pockets because the kids didn't want to read Sounder or whatever they had in the classroom. I've paid for 3 sets of classroom copies for 3 days because the printer in the teacher's lounge was broken and just this Tuesday, my co-teacher and I put up cash to buy a fan for the classroom because the AC in the building is busted and we don't know when it'll be back up. The schools don't give us much to work with at all. I'm in a Title 1 school in the East Flatbush section of Brooklyn so we have nothing. We do what we do because we care, breh. I'm teaching in the same hood I grew up in. Literally. shyt is real out here, breh. Your girl has heart, for real.My girl is a teacher and I was shocked how much she has to come out of pocket to make sure her students have the shyt they need in the classroom because the school doesn't provide it![]()
