it's the hardest sport to put together a good team. They only got 15 dudes to choose from and then your top 5-7 have to mesh and have games that compliment eachother. One of those players has to be really really good and another has to be very good. Then only 2 picks in the draft with one of them being of little value in the 2nd round. :wow:
Might be the toughest job in sports to be successful at :damn:

NBA GMs are only compared to other NBA GMs so it's an even playing field (aside from the differences team to team). Success is only how you do in relation to other GMs.

Its not even the toughest GM job in sports....and miss me with that its tough BS,thats why they are paid millions of dollars to make tough decisions if they candle pressure then GTFO and let my man @Malta have an opportunity...I guarantee if he was my teams GM,there would never have been a team built around a goofy euro 7 foot fakkit...

Like anything else if the GM really put in work and explored ALL options then they can be successful .

No matter what market.

After Fully evaluating the players i have the option to and trying to make the best decision with my lottery pick, that's when the REAL work starts.

If I'm a GM of a small market I'm studying SA,Indiana, Memphis, and OKC down to the TEE.
I'm going overseas and to small schools like pop does and finding players that are FUNDEMENTALLY SOUND have a GREAT WORK ETHIC and can work in ANY TEAM CONCEPT.

You don't play defense? Your getting cut/traded.
You consistently take bad shots ( Josh Smith:mindblown:)? Your getting cut/traded.

You don't find the open man ( for PG especially)? Your getting cut/traded

Also I don't want to hear about no talent in the second round there has been many players taken in the second that have contributed to championship teams. I'm looking for a defensive stopper in the second round.

And also the RIGHT COACH is very important and might be the hardest thing to get in my opinion (pop basically coaches AND GMs)

These dudes are just a part of a boys club that gets recycled job after job, they need to bring some hungry dudes up with fresh ideas add some new blood to the GM circle

A) there aren't as many wunderkinds as you think

B) some of those guys would never take certain jobs even if it's the only one out there

:snoop: I remember when he signed gordon and villanueva. Joey D has been fukking trash lately.

":ehh: Hmmm, Brandon Jennings and Josh Smith. Let me put two of the dumbest players in the NBA on the same team together and have them play on the floor at the same time. What's the worst that could happen? :ld: "

how does dumars even attempt to sell that :trash: to the fanbase in summer 2009 knowing good and well, bron, wade, johnson, bosh, boozer, lee, and stat would all be free agents in 2010?????? :mindblown:

:snoop: To be honest, as dumb as that shyt was, I SEE why he did it.

He was definitely hedging his bets.

That move was sort of him being like :patrice: Yeah, so, none of those dudes are prolly coming here, so let me at least get these scrubs so it looks like I'm being proactive

It was a horrific move either way though

man they'd have been better off holding onto their cap space. they would have still been :trash: but at least they could live to sign free agents another day. hell, they could at least be in the position to make a trade to a desperate team looking to dump salary even.

I know he assumed they couldn't make a splash in summer 2010, but damn, you at least gotta try.
