I think another thing that exacerbates the issue is the general lonely existences. The longer hours often leave folks too exhausted to do anything but handle a few errands/tasks before hitting the sack.

You go abroad to some places and the one constant I observe is people socializing in groups over a meal. Whether it be lunch with colleagues, or dinner with family/friends the social interactions are plentiful. I'll never forget walking through St Germain in Paris on a cold December, Tuesday evening and all the restaurants were brimming with patrons so far as to sit in the outdoor patios where they have heating lamps suspended overhead so they can still enjoy dining outdoors in winter :wow:

Compare that to here and you may have the occasional colleague make a lunch run only to bring the food back for everyone to eat separately at their desk 'cause there's simply no time to go out and properly enjoy a meal.

Folks get home at all sorts of different times, and consume food whenever most convenient. It may be once or twice a week you have a proper social meal where stories, experiences, opinions, etc. are exchanged... this can't be life :mjcry:

Yeah most of my family in NYC work mad hours and never see each other unless it's some overpriced restaurant, brunch shyt, or loud turn up spot. Most of the time folks be too sauced or the spot is too damn loud to even talk for effective communication to occur. My cheap ass tell folks they can come through and I'll cook:lolbron: but I ain't spending bread on wack ass Boughghetto spots (Bougie + Ghetto spots that are in abundance in Harlem and the BX).:mjpls:

The suburban shyt ain't much better. Same problems just with more space. There has to be a re-assesment of how folks interact. That whole notion that folks will have some huge trade off later on is what keeps the machine going, but if your relationships suffer or are nonexistent then based on studies you not gonna be around long any damn way.
