It's partly because most ppl especially Americans are followers. We buy and like things because everyone else does....certain celebrities, because they think that's what they're supposed to like and obsess over, overpriced shoes, the phones they buy, they just buy to say they have it, over and over, overpriced clothes, purses, etc a lot of the time just to impress somebody else. I used to be like that too until I started to notice I was doing it just to impress ppl, and I started questioning things...even though I had what was considered to be a good job by my family and friends I still felt empty, like yeah I like money, I'm working to get it, etc but why am I buying stuff to impress other ppl. What does it mean in the end? Nothing imo. Ppl care more about what somebody has than the actual person. I also started to wonder if anything we do in life even means anything after we're gone, not on some suicidal type shyt but just questioning.
I don't think any of what we do while we're alive will matter after we're dead...I don't believe you go to a place and somebody will praise you for what you did when u were alive, "Young Czar was a good man, and he dressed nice, had a nice watch collection etc" i think we just cease to exist. Even though I have accomplished a lot, I still think our existance is artificial, and ppl care too much about meaningless stuff, like what someone else thinks about them and their possessions. Life here is a temporary state
