I remember this girl I knew calling Solange & Beyonce "ghetto" names. Till she met a French foreign exchange student with the name Solange then it was "oh i didn't like it cause I didn't know the real pronunciation"

Black people need to name their kids wtf they want and teach them economic independence.

I got a "hood" name & my kids will too

It's prob caused my resume to be tossed before, but on the flip side ive never had to worry about how they feel about black folks once i showed up to the interview.

I mean it's a big debate in the African community on whether we should be giving kids traditional first names or English first names.

An Igbo name keeps the culture alive, but the English name may open more doors realistically.

My view on it is a moral victory vs a quantifiable victory.

THIS!!!! The ****travious' and ****quan's annoy me. My cousin has 8 kids and all except one (named after his father) has tae in it. After the first 4 I can't tell you who the others are and I don't even try to figure it out

I’ve seen parents put a regular name as a first name ON PAPER but their middle name is unique and the actual name they go by


We gotta do better with nepotism before I do those name combination things
