GKMC vs Reasonable Doubt

For me I don't believe in modern classics or regional classics. I only believe in universal or personal classics.
If an album's classic status is confined to a certain region or time period,its not a true classic. But some albums are pretty much labeled classics by fans,media,and artist peers. Those are universal. Then there are some albums that aren't critically acclaimed to the masses but in my heart,they're personal classics.

Scarface isn't a hood classic though. That shyt is a worldwide classic. It's pop culture history. If I go outside and ask a white lady if she knows about Scarface 99% of the time she will say yes. Idk about Boyz n the hood.

That may be true depending on who ask, but I was speaking about the acclaim they received. Scarface was panned by critics but slowly it grew into pop culture status esp. when rappers referenced the movie and you saw the posters all over their houses. I will say it like this; If you want a glitzy, polished, smoothed out, hyper violent, luxury rags to riches tale, then Reasonable Doubt and Scarface are for you. If like young boy trying to do and be good in the midst of violence and gangbanging, coming of age story then GKMC and Boyz in da Hood is more your style. I would say for me I drawn more towards GkMC because of my life experiences, but to each his own.

If anyone even read the reviews you'll see that the geeks criticize him for being a mysogynitic street dude. Probably the same reason neither MATW, R2D, Chronic, Doggystyle and multiple other classics never got 5 mics.

Due to not being on a major label, he didn't get the corporate backing. And back then as a kid I remember people discussing Vol1 vs Rd. just cause Vol.1 had that corporate backing.


And lol at the fool who said it was 3.5 and the other fool saying Ain't no nikka was weak.
It ain't got to be in your top 10'but denying its classic status is just ignorant.
