The nikkah had a movie with Janet Jackson and had a number 1 album from Jail... Tupac was a fukking star before Death Row
so you believe Pac was bigger before Death Row than after? :gucci: because that is what this thread is about. :wtb: Pre-Death Row Pac wasnt as big as Death Row Pac, so he certainly wasnt bigger than Snoop before 95. :mjtf:

he didnt gain traction to overtake Snoop til late 95 and for that short end of the year span that is still debatable. again, we are only arguing one year, 1995 because Glasses said that Snoop was bigger that year.

He wasn’t ever bigger than Snoop in life

False.

"AEOM" went 5x plat when Pac was still alive. Check the dates on RIAA.com if you don't believe me.

Snoop's biggest album of his career went 4x plat.

Like I said, the only way this works in Snoop's favor....is if you give him Dre+Death Row, and look at Pac's career before he had any of that.

Saying Snoop was bigger in '92-'95 is completely pointless because:

1. He had a Dre co-sign and single ("Deep Cover").
2. He was all over Dre's first post-NWA release ("The Chronic")
3. He had a full solo album ("Doggystyle") produced by Dre, who at the time was arguably the biggest producer in hip-hop.

Pac had NONE of those things. So the comparison is hilariously lop sided in Snoop's favor. I mean....anyone arguing that angle is not even attempting to be subjective.

Dre is the reason Death Row was successful. Dre was the reason Snoop was successful. You remove the Dre co-sign, nobody even knows who the fukk Snoop is. Dre leaves, Snoop's follow up album was weak as fukk.

So if you give a '92-'95 Pac what Snoop everything Snoop had to work with....Pac would've been, what Snoop was.

Fred.

I said that in an earlier post. :beli:

its not pointless given the context of the interview

we are not revising history here....Glasses said Snoop was bigger in 93, 94, 95 and some seem to disagree with that. also Glasses did say once Pac got with Dre he became bigger. people just getting bent out of shape because he was directly comparing him to Snoop.

and breh, dont say Dre was the reason Death Row was successful and totally ignore what Snoop's charisma gave Dre.

G said that in the interview. His biggest album was on Death Row when he aligned himself with Dogg (and Dre/Suge)

If I had time I’d post the interview where he was bragging about aligning himself with them and literally named Snoop as the biggest artist in the game

G also had to remind the panel that Pac/Snoop both started their careers around the same time..

Definitely PAC. By 96 snoop wave was already starting to fizzle. His 2nd sold pretty well but shyt was dud.

In 96 PAC was probably at his biggest. AEOM dropped beginning of that year and the Makaveli after he passed

How was Tupac bigger than Snoop Dogg in 95 when All Eyez On Me didn't come out until Feb of 96 and California Love dropped at the very end of 95? You know what went double platinum in 95? Murder was the case soundtrack. So stop it breh.

There is no one to tell me anything, did you live in the city both of them were from at the time? I did.

And what was the second single off AEOM? Ahh that is right the song with Snoop. Curious how he surpassed him so much yet Tupac still needed him for his second single.

Since we on topic of discussion

Pac carried Snoop on this..
Pac was in his bag.. Completely overshadowing Snoop on this
U can tell where DOC influence was missing
He wasn’t ever bigger than Snoop in life

Doggfather dropped after Pac had died

I don’t even know why people posting Da Game Is To Be Sold lol..

1998 is out of scope.. has nothing to do with the discussion in any capacity
nikkas said Snoop was the GOAT of the 90s.. I showed the evidence of why his not...

I'll say it again....Dre was the reason Death Row was successful. Snoop's "charisma" couldn't save "The Doggfather" from being a weed plate.

And it's not about context, it's about reality. Snoop's biggest success was with Dre. Dre actually had more success (with Em and 50) post-Snoop. You remove Snoop from Dre's life, he'd be fine. You remove Dre from Snoop's life, he's probably working at Arby's.

Glasses Malone's whole dumb ass argument is like....we're both Soundcloud rappers. I got a co-sign from Kendrick and TDE. You're still indie doing local shows. 3 years after I sign to TDE, you sign....then 20 years form now somebody says "well, hex was bigger from 2019-2022!"....it's like....no shyt. I had things at my disposal you didn't. If you had what I had in the same time frame, you might've been as big, if not bigger, than I was.

Why the fukk are u talking to me about All Eyez On Me when Me Against The World was a multiplatinum number 1 album that dropped in 95? All while he was locked up?

Saying "they both started their careers around the same time" is disingenuous was fukk because one came out the gate with a Dre co-sign and one didn't.

And yeah Snoop was the biggest artist in the game. Key word was. Again, on equal footing Pac immediately eclipsed him. Again....the only way Glasses Malone's silly ass argument works....is if one of them has Dre+Death Row, and one doesn't.

Nope. When Tupac was alive the album had only sold just over 2 million.

Misleading for the people who weren't paying attention then and YOU know better but wanted to win an argument I guess. The album counted as TWO because it was a double album. The project has only sold 5.8 million copies in the US with tons coming after he died but since it's a double album it got the certification for diamond.

California Love was Dr Dre's song and Tupac asked to be on it. The second single was with Snoop. Death Row made Tupac blow up, not vice versa. Deathrow blew up on the back of Snoop and his cousin, his friend Nate Dogg, his friend Warren G, and himself.

RIAA counts each disc as a unit, so 5x plat on a double disc album means it sold 2.5 mil.
Doggystyle sold a clean 4x plat. so by that logic Snoop was still bigger. :mjlol:

I used to work at a record store breh. 8Ball's Lost album was certified platinum but he only officially moved 900k albums. this is around the time labels got hip and started forcing double cds.
