RIAA counts each disc as a unit, so 5x plat on a double disc album means it sold 2.5 mil.
Doggystyle sold a clean 4x plat. so by that logic Snoop was still bigger. :mjlol:

I used to work at a record store breh. 8Ball's Lost album was certified platinum but he only officially moved 900k albums. this is around the time labels got hip and started forcing double cds.
Pac’s album sold that within 2 months of the album dropping. Album was 6 milli by the time Pac died. And 7 milli after Pac died that same year. So even if u wanna count that. It sold records in a shorter amount of time. Going by ur own logic. Snoop went double with Doggfather. But really only sold 1 million. Going by ur logic. Snoop sold 75 percent less with his sophomore album. Between MATW and AEOM. Pac sold more records overall than Snoop by the time he died no matter HOW u slice it. Even if u wanna count Doggfather.

I'll say it again....Dre was the reason Death Row was successful. Snoop's "charisma" couldn't save "The Doggfather" from being a weed plate.

And it's not about context, it's about reality. Snoop's biggest success was with Dre. Dre actually had more success (with Em and 50) post-Snoop. You remove Snoop from Dre's life, he'd be fine. You remove Dre from Snoop's life, he's probably working at Arby's.

Glasses Malone's whole dumb ass argument is like....we're both Soundcloud rappers. I got a co-sign from Kendrick and TDE. You're still indie doing local shows. 3 years after I sign to TDE, you sign....then 20 years form now somebody says "well, hex was bigger from 2019-2022!"....it's like....no shyt. I had things at my disposal you didn't. If you had what I had in the same time frame, you might've been as big, if not bigger, than I was.

Fred.

breh, stop it. Doggfather is irrelevant to the conversation. everyone has dud albums. how tf you gonna say its about reality and sit here and downplay Snoop status. Snoop isnt working at Arbys. thats the reality. I get it, you dont like Glasses and you like Pac better than Snoop, but none of that changes the facts. only discussing what did happen, not what "could have" happened.

Chronic and Doggystyle changed hip hop and pop music... nothing PAC did before All Eyez did that...
And Me Against the World and Thug Life are 2 of my favorite albums

It's not a lie dumbass. Double albums count for TWO :snoop:
If that’s the case. He was 3 milli by the time he died. And 4 million after. And Snoop only sold 1 milli that year. So between Doggystyle and Doggfather. That’s 5 million records. Pac still sold more records than Snoop. But none of it matters. Cause Doggystyle came out in 93. Pac died in the second half of 96. What the fukk Snoop did in 93 has nothing to do with his status in 96. Pac was bigger. And it showed when Snoop dropped that dud with his 96 album.

2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted wasn't a hit & charted badly..
Its a album cut but mainstream wise didn't registered
A bad follow up to his 1st single

Yeah I have a sneaky feeling you are trying to wiki your way through this one. Is that why it was a #1 song in the second biggest market in the country FOR-EV-ER and on his 'Greatest Hits' album?

Doggystyle was a double album? well then I got jipped and no one told me. :dwillhuh:

Doggfather was a double album? damn, I was really getting jerked. :comeon:

btw...7 mil on double disc album still means 3.5 mil sold.

Aren't you the guy who just told people to look it up on the RIAA site? He wasn't at 6x certification until after he was shot.

Tha Doggfather sold 479k it's first week with a single album. AEOM did 556k as a double album that is counted as two it's first week....so even one of Snoop's weaker albums that was rushed and didn't have Dr Dre apart of it out sold AEOM it's first week but somehow I am supposed to believe that Tupac was way bigger then?

Nope. When Tupac was alive the album had only sold just over 2 million.

Misleading for the people who weren't paying attention then and YOU know better but wanted to win an argument I guess. The album counted as TWO because it was a double album. The project has only sold 5.8 million copies in the US but since it's a double album it got the certification for diamond.

California Love was Dr Dre's song and Tupac asked to be on it. The second single was with Snoop. Death Row made Tupac blow up, not vice versa. Deathrow blew up on the back of Snoop and his cousin, his friend Nate Dogg, his friend Warren G, and himself.

This is the argument you all bring to the table? "It's a double CD"?

As if a double CD wasn't almost twice the cost of a regular CD....

Seriously? For people that claim to be around back then you should know that.

And @synistr the reason 8 Ball was plat is because RIAA counts what shipped, not sold. So I don't even know why both of you are talking about who sold what.

Uh it wasn't twice the cost and again YOU know it wasn't. The double albums were 3-4 dollars more. 14.99 and 17.99 or 17.99 and 21.99 depending on where you went. I personally don't think you purchased the album then.

For a person who claims to be around back then YOU should know that and DO but here you are trying to wiggle yourself into a W.

How is "Doggfather", a Snoop album with no Dre....irrelevant to the discussion.....but Pac's career prior to a Dre co-sign isn't? :gucci:

How does Snoop's career unfold, without Dre? Map that shyt out for me. Because Pac was known prior to Dre....Snoop wasn't.

So u tryna tell me the nikka sold a whole million in the matter of 3 days?? And like Hex said. If u went and copped a double album then. The shyt costs more money. Sometimes 20 something bucks. Regardless. Pac SOLD MORE RECORDS THAN SNOOP IN 1996 BEFORE HIS DEATH.
