It’s not even about being obedient. It’s the attitude. She said that with her chest in front of everyone. I would’ve ate some wedding cake, Cupid shuffled, then canceled the marriage.
I agree, I was just trying to make a point. A man willing to risk his life for you and you don’t want to listen?

Yeah he should have ate that cake and moonwalked outta there.

This. My ego would've kicked in if she acted like that in front of all my family and friends, with this being the only acceptable response

Meh, It's 2023, that shyt ain't flying. Ya'll nikkas really think ya'll wife should obey your orders huh.
In a fight or flight situation who do you think she’ll expect to put their own safety at risk for the betterment of the family? The expectation put on men is that they have to defend their family with their LIFE but they cant put the expectation on women to obey (within reason)?

More men are saying :camby: and going overseas

She doesn’t obey my orders because I don’t direct her like a drill Sargent, but I do have final say in all matters involving our family and household.

Marriage is for God’s people.

Somewhere along the line, everybody started feeling like their union isn’t legit unless they announce it in a church in front of a pastor, but God doesn’t recognize the union of heathens regardless so it’s a waste of time and money for most of y’all.

Yeah this. Wild disrespectful, if breh respects himself it will be a very short marriage, otherwise he's in for a headache.

Normally you discuss with the officiant what vows you want to omit prior to the ceremony. The "obey" vow is antiquated and is not used by most. The officiant was out of line to include this if it was not cleared by bride and groom in advance. For my wedding, they let me know up front that they would not include it (they had a personal view against it and I had no problem with it). It's strange that they would go there without prior authorization in advance or if both parties did not discuss it earlier--would not have chosen the officiant. "Obey" has been getting taken out since the '60s in a lot of places.
