I don't know this to be true or not. I heard someone say that electric is renewable but not the the rare earth materials used to design the batteries. So if we went to electric that we would shift from gasoline dependence to the rare earth materials. Which supposedly China has been buying up and putting lock on for a while now.
Same with computer chips.

Good point. That's true as far as I know, I remember reading something for a class I'm taking right now that said China has the vast majority of the Earth's rare metals. I'd like to think that a revolution in EV's would provide all the incentive for China to sell and continue rising.
Yea but if true it we may be even in worse spot then our dependence on oil. I mean we are not in direct competition with countries in the middle east. They really can't fuk with on any level except oil. Obviously China is a deferen't beast all together. And it not just for the batteries it some of things in computer chips as far as I can understand. The last thing we need is for China to have a monopoly on that shyt.
But from what I understand it already is that way. I dunno man. Maybe the best Idea is a little bit of electric, still some gasoline, plus some hydrogen.
I don't know but all those rare earth elements in the hands of the Chinese makes me a little worried.
