If they want story progression, they need to bring his brother up as a super boss with the rage of Kratos but with intelligence and a 1000 goons. This could be used to push some dam character development for Kratos as well, because dude should have some mixed emotions about killing his brother who he thought was dead. His bro would have to do some real dirty shyt to make Kratos wanta murk him. His brother has the potential to do alot.

I don't even see how a prequel makes sense at this point, as they've already done two of those as well.

Duke above mentioned something about their being a different guy fighting other gods. Nah, you could keep Kratos and have him fight other gods of other lores though I think. Would open up the game's scenario quite a bit, whilst still keeping it familiar with Kratos still at the helm.
