That is what I did with him to finally beat him, throwing spear after spear. You just have to learn his attacks on both the 1st and 2nd half of the fight and it aint that bad. The horse lady was the most difficult part for me.Tyr keeps getting work from me. He can barely touch me when I fight with the spear.
How, sway? Spam Flame whiplash and be done with it. How are y'all possible getting to Try without having at least one weapon, preferably spear that is doing high stagger/damage

pause by Spear Tyr for 2 weeks. I really didn’t play that much the week of Christmas but last Wednesday, Saturday, New Year Eve, and today I played probably a total 8 or 9hrs of just running through the same “chosen” fights and mini boss fights to get to Tyr only to get beat every time I get his health to like a quarter. I keep exhausting my resurrection stones before reaching him. I shouldn’t have started off on the 2nd hardest difficulty without playing this for almost a yr

I had to stock up and max out runic attacks (plus max out cooldown) to beat him. Though the real key is doing well in Greece to stock up on glyphs and whatever other boost you can find there.
