I just looked up well logs, wtf.

I originally was majoring in Petroleum Engineering and the majority of the people were in the program because your “supposed “ to make 100k+ Straight out of college. I just couldn’t see myself reading well logs for the rest of my life lol

I'm not about that stem life, and I'm not even gonna waste my time. Im trash at math.

What are other majors that can give you a good paying career/ or at least some type of good paying job.

I literally have no clue cuz all I hear is stem.

Trust me breh don’t give em. Took me almost 7 years. I failed damn near every single math class the first time and had to finesse my coding classes but I finally got my CS degree last year and got a gig making 70k right out of school with no internships before that. Granted I know how to talk so that got me in the door. But it’s worth it to grind it out. I get to work from home 2-3 days out the week and it’s pretty chill once you graduate

If you want out of stem I would go into nursing or finance and accounting. The math is def not as hard

Yeah, that's low six figures and it's totally believable. People are well compensated in oil and gas.

That’s why I said “small state school,” Penn State is large, and nationally recognized, same for OSU, UMich, Arizona, Cal, etc.
And most corporate banking hiring comes from laterals, interns who are jumping onboard, and on campus interviews.
You sure those guys are straight out of college?
Yes.

There are programs for freshly graduated college students. And intern to hire programs. The state I live in has a small state school. About 20k students. I knew more than a few that got into banks around here. They also have programs for people woth liberal arts degrees that want to get into these banks. It's crazy.

Do you work in the field as well?

You will need to have some work experience coming out of school. To get the targeted jobs in big 4 you need an internship there or great work experience, good grades and interview well.
Entering private/industry accounting as a new grad with little experience is very very hard and starting salaries in industry can be low.

Oh you are one of those gotta be stem fukkboys huh? Sociology honestly is a good major if you do not like stem but you just gotta bust your ass to get your internships and make connections.

I’ll say it like this I have a handful of friends who chose sociology and are now marketing managers pulling in 80k a year 4 years in. They do some hard work st times but mostly they live the life of Dre on blackish.

Don't do OP like this. I never said that you couldn't succeed in certain majors. It's just that those ones are specific to location, schools, reputation, etc. STEM, nursing and accounting generally aren't.

I took accounting and got my degree, currently working as a staff accountant. Right now actually, as you can see i spend most of my work day on thecoli.

See if there’s a business IT/It mgmt major at school with a strong rep and good on campus recruiting. My friend did a similar major and the highest math she had to take iirc was stats 1 or calc 1. Got an internship at a major company with the job waiting for her after graduation.

Business Calc is a joke. There are practically infinitely many resources available, if you need help.

i have to disagree. it depends on your professor. I took business cal and it was the hardest class i have ever taken, but it was due to the professor. there was no "business" in the math. the exams would always be three, maybe four problems, that were always more advanced than the homework problems. you had to get ahead in the textbook and go over things he had not covered to figure the shyt out. it was extremely easy to fail. i swear to god more than half the class dropped the course, and the rest of us absolutely LIVED in the tutoring lab. i wouldve dropped it but i dropped another class that semester and had to stay in for lose my financial aid.

this professor was like a math genius but man he was a shyt teacher. i barely survived with a C since he did at least grade on a curve. never in my life have i had to put that much effort into a class to get a damn C.

that said, OP you shouldnt worry that much about the math. i doubt your experience will be the same. all you need is statistics and business cal to satisfy math for a business degree. you probably arent as bad as math as you think you are. you just need it explained in a way that clicks for you. there are so many resources online and you can always schedule some one on one time with your professor or their assistant, or get in the tutoring lab like I did. if you want it bad enough you will find a way. anything worth achieving is going to take some hard work. it seems like some of yall just want to be handed a degree. you have to go and earn it. :manny:

and you CAN get an associates (AAS) in fields such as HVAC. those can then be transferred to 4 year schools when you can get a BAAS.

I'll say this, accounting where i went to college(UT) was basically the same stuff over and over each semester. just gradually expanded on. So if you take it and don't like after the first semester go ahead and switch majors. Won't be a wasted semester either since intro accounting classes count towards pretty much every business major and even certain CIS majors.
