When I was younger I was into bars but nowdays Im fine with good songs(thugga, future etc) I mean as far as lyricists its not gonna get any better than 90s rappers so y'all minus well dead that we need more lyrical miracle rappers talk.

a mixture of both would be a perfect world but long as the song is saying something relateble i rather it be catchy and nicely structured than a 4 minute song of straight bars

Good lyricists can be good music makers. The best Hip Hop artists of all time are by and large all good lyricists.

Yeah I'm not even going to vote just because I think its stupid people get so in their shyt over this question. Both have their charms, and sometimes I want to listen to G Rap, sometimes Future :yeshrug:

It is what it is

Good Music makers 100,000%, I don't even care if you got bars as long as the music is good

Agreed. You need both to be considered a GOAT. Bars are necessary, but they can only take you so far. Plenty of rappers in the underground have them, but they rarely blow. Why? Cause the musical side of it probably sucks. :manny:

Music.

I'd rather play group home or young thug than listening to some random Aesop Rock album

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
if you put a gun to my head... give me bars... i don't care how "good" a song is... if the rapper is rapping about some bullshyt.. or some a,b,c 1,2,3 type of shyt... i can't fukk with that shyt.. i'm listening the whole time like "fukk is this nikka talking about" or i just start wishing i had the instrumental

take biggie, jay, beans, wu.... some of my favs... if they was on the same songs, same beats, but was rapping like chief keef... get them the fukk out of here

but if those dudes rapped the same, but had shytty beats... i'd still give them a listen

and i wouldn't even say it's an old school thing... kendrick, cole, meek sometimes... all got bars but don't have the catchiest songs
