Godfather better than Goodfellas?! . . . Hell No!
Godfather was in the grand scheme of things, more grandiose and operatic, it was a romanticized portrayal of the mob, it was regal, and pushed the honor and loyalty thing heavy throughout the film.
Don't get me wrong, i like the GF, but to me, Goodfellas set the stage for realistic, no p*ssy footin, real life portrayal of the real mob.
Goodfellas not only gave legendary lines, it gave the audience a realistic view of the mob, the mob is not made up of ultra fancy, ivy league educated guys, these are vicious killers that are capable of some really sick shyt.
loyalty and honor is a lie, wise guys stab each other in the back all the time.
its a dirty, murky, extremely violent world full of cut throats, high on drugs. Goodfellas had that world down cold! Scorsese didnt need to travel to sicily or cali to make his movie grandiose, he made it a classic because he
captured the everyday wise guy and he succeeded.
