There's a lot of stories out there, who knows what's true and what ain't. There's people who claim Mickey Mantle hit a home run clean out of Yankee stadium shyt went 600+ feet or some bullshyt, and multiple eyewitnesses claim that shyt happen but we don't have video.

I think they said Josh Gibson hit a HR in an exhibition at Yankee stadium and hit that bytch clean out too but that I believe :salute:

Bo Jackson was so fast and explosive his body literally tore itself apart when he ran. He actually had to learn to slow down when he played baseball. Hell he became a better runningback when he learned to wait for his holes to open up (nh). He probably didn't run a 4.13 or whatever but he could easily run a 4.3.
Explain how it tore itself apart. I wanna read this.

When he got that hip injury in 91. It was stress related (over exertion i mean). Sports medicine isn't where it is now. Basically he ran to the point where the muscle separated from the bone. Trainers told him rest it. But he chose to keep on going. That type of injury is treatable now with surgery but it wasn't back then.

:what: what difference does it make if it isn't in combine history. NBA MEASURES RUNNING VERTICALS
NFL MEASURES STANDING VERTICALS
when they say 48 they meaning running vert
Chris Conley has the highest STANDING VERT at 45 inches
the highest the nba was set by hamidou diallo at 44.5 inches
so conley more than likely has 48+ running vert himself and yet there is no way mj had it?
NFL athletes are another level above NBA athletes, 6'6" athletes are rarely gonna have the kind of hops that the most elite normal-sized athletes have, and someone raised in the 1970s without modern training isn't likely to be at the same level as modern athletes.

When Jordan was tested in college, they claimed a 36" standing vertical and a 45" running vertical. However, that was kind of a bs test, as they used video recordings of repeated jumps to project how high he was jumping, rather than requiring him to actually hit a target. If it was more the test where he got two shots to hit a target and not just projecting out his absolute max, it almost certainly would have been shorter. So I'd guess a 42-43" vertical.

A 42-43" vertical would mean at his peak Jordan would hit his head on the rim. A 48" vertical would mean Jordan with his head 6" above the rim. Which one of those reflects reality? :sas1::sas2:

I’m glad you put that disclaimer at the end....
Wilt may have had a 50 inch vertical
A 7'1" man with a 50 inch vertical would have put his head 17 inches ABOVE the rim. :mjlol:

Imagine Wilt hitting the rim at his nipple line. :francis:

growing up with bo and deion..

i didn't realize just how fukking ridiculous it was that they played both sports like that.

like i knew it was something special.. but there were 2 dudes doing it already.. surely, there'd be more to come.

but nope

Brian Jordan was a decent safety for the Falcons I thought, he was a good baseball player, played with the Braves

You assume a test running vert is the same as in game vert. And you asssume draft conditioning is the same as in season conditioning. And you have to realize nfl athletes are packing a lot more weight per inch than nba players and players are heavier now than in the 70's -80's

Everyone forgets Brian Jordan. Pro Bowl alternate with the Falcons and then an All-Star with the Braves.

Charlie Ward won the Heisman Trophy and then played 11 years as a point guard.

There are other guys who could have done it, but it's just a lot easier to choose one or the other in the end.
