College was never meant to be vocational training. It was a liberal arts realm where people studied philosophy, old languages, history, mathematics, law etc.

You went there to expand your mind and contemplate your future.

Now people go to school just to have the piece of paper needed to get a job. Truthfully you can learn A LOT in college but not everyone does, so they end up thinking it's useless.

Doctors, lawyers etc., are still going to school. Guaranteed the rich/elite are going to make sure Johnny goes to MIT, Harvard, Stanford etc.

This Google ITT Tech shyt is for "regluh" folks. Just learn some skills for a job.....none of that critical thinking, creative writing stuff that separates the top dollar folks from the masses. Training an underclass.

A bio degree can be a great gateway to going to dental, med, or pharmacy school.

My sister was a biochem major before going to med school. She makes $500k/year now

For the record I am not just directing this at at you, but more so for any breh/brehette that may be lurking.

A degree (and good grades) will open more doors for you than these corporate certs. Matter of fact corporate certs are just as much of a hustle as college. You got Amazon certs, Microsoft certs, Cisco certs, Oracle certs, and now Google is getting into the game to increase their stock prices for their investors. Someone with a computer science degree won't need to grab all of these certs because it's understood that they will know the underlying technology.

And to add on, someone with a computer science degree will be eligible to attend law school and practice patent law which is a great niche field paying $200k out of the gate. A person with Google certs won't have the same opportunity

ok but how many companies will take this as a replacement for a degree?

a lot of the point of hiring college graduates for companies is that they know that you were dedicated to finishing up school and they think you'll be a good worker bee.

Yeah I highly doubt this puts an end to college degrees. This is wishful thinking.

Second at many large companies the colleges and corporations work together in terms of the college setting up programs to funnel graduates to said company.

The company in turn sends money to the college for the programs or through a feeder systems encourages employees to go to said college for continuing education.

Its a symbiotic relationship between colleges and companies.

Finally there is too much money to be made by state and private colleges. There is also companies that make tons of money off of loans from private to federal loans. The federal loans are guaranteed to be backed by the government which means the large loan companies take no loss even if you as the one with the loan default.

Its a multi billion dollar business and the reason these politicians will never ever ever ever do an overall forgiveness program wiping out everyones debt (besides a few thousand here and there).

This is not how capitalism works. They don't get rid of shyt that makes folks money hand over fist.
