These types of training programs are gonna become more common place especially in tech. Companies already make tons of money off their tech certifications. So why not expand the curriculum and increase your talent pool at the same time. If other companies won't recognize your certificate all the better because they can't poach your students. Plus you can guarantee the skill level of applicants that finish the program.

I wonder if the certificate program is hands on like Immersive Labs instead of just lecture. The future of education is gonna be using simulated cloud environments with very little need for instructors. Most of the tech training I do for my job no longer involves tech instructors. It won't be long before college professors are given the boot next.

A bio degree can be a great gateway to going to dental, med, or pharmacy school.

My sister was a biochem major before going to med school. She makes $500k/year now

For the record I am not just directing this at at you, but more so for any breh/brehette that may be lurking.

A degree (and good grades) will open more doors for you than these corporate certs. Matter of fact corporate certs are just as much of a hustle as college. You got Amazon certs, Microsoft certs, Cisco certs, Oracle certs, and now Google is getting into the game to increase their stock prices for their investors. Someone with a computer science degree won't need to grab all of these certs because it's understood that they will know the underlying technology.

And to add on, someone with a computer science degree will be eligible to attend law school and practice patent law which is a great niche field paying $200k out of the gate. A person with Google certs won't have the same opportunity

ok but how many companies will take this as a replacement for a degree?

a lot of the point of hiring college graduates for companies is that they know that you were dedicated to finishing up school and they think you'll be a good worker bee.
I feel you, but high turnover rates and inefficiency shows that that shyt don’t even make a difference. Having a liscense in a specialized field shows more dedication and skill, because you know that person can only apply that trade to a specialized field vs a college degree which pretty much you can use to get jobs outside of the field if you plz. Passing college is easy so it don’t really measure shyt. The future is now and we setting the pace.

They giving every incentive they can for young people to work there, because they see millennials and younger will rather drive Uber and be broke than work a draining 9 - 5 working for people you hate like our parents had to...Freedom And happiness is everything..and being in debt don’t lead to either

Real talk most these certs educated professionals get them to add onto their education and experience. As a way to stand out from others who don't have certs or to request for more money when looking for a job.

So for example a program manager my have a degree but is paid 120k a year. They get a PMP apply for a program manager job at another company and gets 170k a year.

Or you have a manufacturing engineer who has a degree and makes 80k a year. They get a black belt certification and then apply for another job and now make 110k a year.

Actually they give incentives with professional 9 to 5s because they no longer give pensions and folks between the ages of 22 to 50 are more likely to switch jobs because the goal is to increass salary since there are no longer pensions.

So they offer other incentives as carrots. Much harder to leave a job when they are telling you that if you do 20 to 30 years you getting 80k a year in pension or a lump sum of 1 mill.

Why you think these police departments and fire departments getting all these young folks to join even though many folks don't want to do these jobs...that pension homie that pension.

Also I would argue passing college being easy depends on the major and the ability of the student to prioritize and manage their time.

Guarantee you no google executive will allow their kids to replace a college degree with this.

This is true but nobody is saying this new program will be the equivalent of a PhD or something. It makes practical education more accessible for people that unfortunately would otherwise not have options. Kind of like an applied diploma from a college. Great idea.

No that’s what’s I was saying. They are already being forced to adapt to millennials in the corporate world.. They see we value convenience even at the expense of a couple dollars. They they have to adapt to this as well

Here's the thing. I already put this out there for you all about degrees.

Some companies already look for other criteria besides college degrees. Mine does and that's what got me to travel. Even below the border. This is already a thing, so you don't already need a degree to get a great paying job.

A lot of prayer, searching day after day on the internet for gigs, and finally catching a Blessing from the Most High.

Landed on w/ a good company being an instructor and then my career took off from there. The company don't even acknowledge my degree, they look at them certs. I'm actually at a point now where when I go back home, I give the game to anyone of the old homies who asks what I'm doing so I can get them on. Especially if they only got a gig that they live off of from check to check and not going anywhere with it.

Yeah. My degree close to a Computer Science major. Real close. The company I work for is a Fortune 500 and they don't even recognize the degree.

Imo I don’t think I need to sit in a classroom studying a bunch of stuff that really has no practical value to your life for several years . You wanna be well rounded...travel,ready a book, pick up a hobbies.

Some people need to be "forced" to do these things and to be sure that a certain amount of people are all on the same page or are at least aware of how many different aspects there are to life it has been built into a curriculum.

Can you pick up a book and travel to expand your knowledge further than what is happening in your immediate surroundings? Sure but there would be a significant subset of people who would not give a flying f#ck about attaining more information that doesn't orbit around themselves or not have the drive to seek out more. :manny:

Good read. Certs should be replacing college degrees. It's stupid that if you want to retrain for another job you've supposed to get yourself into thousands of dollars in debt for it.
