Google's not earned the privilege to ask $999+, $799+ or $599+ for their laptops, phones or tablets.

This will now track what exactly it is that they are doing with their hardware.

I've had this on my mind for a while now and it's time to get this out here. We have to be objective which I know many on this forum are incapable of doing.

When I saw Google set the MSRP for the Pixel 3 at $800+ I couldn't believe it :mjlol:

This is the same operating system that till this very day still doesn't have a decent messaging system.

This is the same company that tried to shoehorn google+ down everyone's throats by tying it into very popular services such as youtube. Abandon it and finally kill it off in 2018...after it's essentially been dead since launch.

This is the same operating system that still has an issue with guaranteed OS updates over a prolonged period of time. "Android One" is now a thing, but you hardly ever hear about it being a big feature. They have failed to figure this out in 10 years.

Android Tablets ChromeOS Tablets STARTING at $599? :mjlol:

Pixelbooks STARTING at $999? :wtf:

The pixel project was initially supposed to be a guide on android phones and they have even flipped flopped on that. Nexus One was a top of the line phone, then handed off to samsung for a while. Then LG came in and made some big noise for a while by offering low cost phones that performed well. Now we are back to Google wanting to compete with Apple spec for spec charging $800+ with glaring problems with their operating system? :dahell:

Inconsistent performance years down the line, virus scanning software around. Browsing sites like the coli risking galaxy diabetes? Is this what we are doing in 2018?

I applaud Samsung for putting out decent hardware with these glaring OS issues. Just be careful putting those in your pocket.

Y'all can add on to this if you wish. I am sure I am missing more lol

10.28.18 - Google has not earned the privilege to charge $800 for their phones.
11.29.18 - Google's not earned the privilege to ask $999+, $799+ or $599+ for their laptops, phones or tablets.

Why would you want to be spoon fed a messaging solution. There's tons of messaging apps, telegram and signal are great. They support end to end encryption. Updates are problematic and I'm not talking about long term support. Updates can mess up your workflow by introducing new bugs and companies nowadays are blocking the ability to downgrade firmware. I want to be able to rollback updates like Microsoft Windows. Apple doesn't let you downgrade anytime you want either.

I disagree that lack of long term manufacturers updates and out of the box messaging makes an OS terrible.

My first and only concern with getting a new phone , "is it rootable?".
A rootable phone is most likely to have an unlocked bootloader and third party rom support.
lots of companies are locking their bootloader, huawei decided to no longer provide bootloader unlock codes for their customers.

At $800 price point you're essentially buying a mini computer, you should be able to do whatever you want with it and google android facilitates that better than apple iOS.

Nobody in the market cares about this shyt though. You might be willing to pay $800 for these features, but the average person doesn't give a fukk - which means the shyt's overpriced.

I used to be an Android head but the shyt is all gimmicks. Google doesn't know what the fukk they're doing in mobile, which is a shame because they essentially run my living spaces and personal productivity via Google Assistant / Home, Calendar and Gmail.

I hope one day their software suite becomes entrenched enough for them to tell OEMs to fukk off and give us a phone experience that would blow Apple away.

Til then, blue bubble gang. bytches love the blue bubbles. :takedat:

Google could make you disappear without a trace put some :Respekit: on it's name
They can do worse, they can expose every damn little thing about you. Even the shyt you think is secret, hell they probably know shyt about you that you aren’t aware of yourself. They’ll have you on the summer jam screen with the quickness:sadcam:

Like I've said in the thread I made I've never seen a Pixel phone out on the street. I'm not sure anyone outside the most dedicated tech heads buy these phones.

Google sold 3.9 million Pixel phones in 2017
Apple sells more phones release week than Google sold in a whole year.

Stock Android with timely updates which Google offers with the pixel lineup is worth the premium if you ask me. The problem is with the hardware.

-Constantly copying Apple and usually implementing Apple's worst design decisions usually in a objectively worst fashion (the notch, removal of the headphone jack, ridiculous pricing, no SD card support etc.) Google should be looking to differentiate themselves from Apple and the iPhone not copy every little thing from them:childplease:

-Only 4 GB of RAM on a 2018 Android phone when 6 GB has become the standard and some manufacturers are offering up to 10 GB :snoop:

-Always dropping in October using Qualcomm's flagship chipset from the beginning of the year two or three months before they drop their next flagship chipset. So people who buy a pixel phone have outdated hardware just a couple months removed from their purchase. :camby:

-Always having outdated hardware designs. Every Pixel phone that has come out always has designs that look like they're from the year before. :scusthov:

Breh it’s not about being spoon fed a messaging solution, it’s that everyone on the platform has it and more importantly USES it. That’s the biggest problem with Android, they have 4 communication apps and nobody uses any of them. I used to be hardcore Android fan but they gotta get it together. As far as rooting, I haven’t thought about doing that in years. The phones hardware has surpassed the software so it’s not like how it was back in the day when TouchWiz was killing phone performance.

I got the iPhone X a few months ago after being with Android since the Galaxy SII. There are many small, simple things it doesn’t do. But the overall package is just so much better.
