The liquor store down the street from me sells those 40% Vodka Smirnoff's. Some days during the week I would drink one around 7 & have me feeling
the rest of the night... never smelled like Alcohol the next morning. And I agree about empty calories... that's why I got off my heavy wine consumption. Took like an entire bottle to get me where I wanted to be but I'd be feeling like a sloth & sluggish because my stomach was full of liquid...

If you're a functioning alcoholic, you need to be drinking alot of water too, 2 litres minimum a day.
