actually living close kinda guaruntees the opposite. the closer you are, the more likely you'll take it for granted and leave at the last minute.
That's how I was at my first job, but ever since I started at my current one I'm there 15-30 min before my shift starts. The company encourages employees to punch in 15 min early (although unpaid) so they won't have to worry about being late.
Question yall, if an employer finished the interview process and is now calling references (and you know they got your back)?

Damn shame the hiring process takes this long....good luck man. I'm in the same boat, hoping to get a call back 
all signs point to this being it. basically, ive had them tell me its hard to find someone with my specific skill set. i did well on their data assessment exercise, etc. i interviewed in person, had them compliment the way i tackled their problems, brain teasers, even admitting the failing of other candidates in that setting.
now they calling my references, who im pretty confident have my back. im hoping it goes through.
