Aren't you a Heavy Equipment Operator?
Don't ya'll have to move and travel constantly wherever there's work? Alot of times you won't be sleeping in your own bed either


And that robotic trucking is kind of a myth. You can't drive local on robotic trucks, it would be impossible
And if they haven't even made cars and buses robotic, why would they all of a sudden jump to Trucking?

I agree but getting rookie pay on top of having to pay back for schooling vs having tuition reimbursement seems more logical. I'm not knocking any brehs who go that route though.

He said Schneider is probably the best as far as runs but they wanted him to be closer to Green Bay but he's in Gary, Indiana where they have a facility. He turned them down and went with another company and is making $200k I didn't know they had financing and let you take the truck if you quit. Pretty much said to get the next year or 2 in, learn everything and go in for myself. I'd prefer that over being a company driver.

But if you're not trying to pass a driving test, just shift the regular way or float. No need to stress over nothing.

I'm local about 75% of the time. Never have to go more than 4hrs away from my home unless it's an emergency such as hurricane cleanup and then I'm making 60-90hr plus per diem.

You will see about the robots soon enough.

I've seen the autonomous truck but you still need a driver in it.
Even if trucks were autonomous it wouldn't affect the whole industry because not everything is bumping docks.

Especially in the East Coast. One of my classmates works for International and he said realistically they're 20-30 years away from automation.

I have a class A with Tanker Hazmat. I delivered cryogenic gas for a couple years and it was a good gig. You didn't get dirty and I was making 27$ hr plus OT. The days were just long AF.

O/O 200k+? Gross yes. But now take out insurances, fuel, medical coverage, maintenance, misc you are down to about 125K max.The key to o/o is to have more than 1 truck running at once so you eventually have passive income.

Robotics. Not saying that they will be here tommorow. 20yrs comes faster than you think. Don't be 45 with a family and bills with no other options and get phased out of trucking is all I'm saying. It's going to happen in our lifetime.

Yeah but I only drove OTR for a year. I'm driving local now. And I plan to be an Owner Op with about 5 trucks, so there goes my residual income
