I cant believe Im saying this but I'm with Nap on this.
My main issue with the anti immigrant movement is that most of the arguments are steeped in racism. But in a practical sense the fight for immigration effects immigrants/illegals themselves and offers little to the american voter. Trump plays off that and at this point idk why the democrats would make concessions over it.
Is news helpinf some people in a immigration program gonna excite the average voter and make them feel that Dems won for them in negotiations? fukk no. they cant capitalize on the votes of the immigrants that need this and their voting eligible descendants dont identify themselves with immigrants either.
Why not use the leverage to clean up Flint MI's water?
Why cant they negotiate some aid for puerto rico?
Or Climate change measures?
Or a deal that protects the mueller investigation?
Or better yet measures to fight against election fraud/the dirty tactics from fl and GA midterms. Use his unethical party against him and change the narrative suitable to the impeachment.
Right now theyre falling right in line with the right's "Democrats are anti american they care more about xyz than the average american" narrative and feeding the populism beast for no reason.

As opposed to all of you crying about immigration, how about you just tell your local Democrat to point out the truth. Trump is smokescreening and dragging this out as long as possible to avoid any legal ramifications. IOW, he's holding the gov't hostage, so he and his comrades don't go to jail.

Ultimately this is to look good to his base. If he got the money he'd tie it up looking for contractors and then once he narrowed it down to one(probably somebody he knows personally) he'll pay them to do jack shyt.
They've passed 8 bills that include funding for border security.
Almost all also includes funding to repair much of the existing border wall. Those repairs will place walls where vehicle blocks were before.
It is only 200 million short of what DHS requested.
