i just read that if trump calls an emergency, he has to take that money from military funding? is that true?

Here are 6 scenarios that could ACTUALLY end the government shutdown - CNNPolitics

5) National emergency declaration
If Trump decided to declare the situation at the border a national emergency, the government would re-open in a matter of days. Trump would take the $5 billion for the wall construction from military funding already allocated by Congress -- thus removing the hurdle that is currently keeping the government closed.

i wouldnt have a problem with that :ehh:

Military already told him to don't even think about it, that's why he was trying to grab the hurricane funds.

Dude, stop posting. Dems passed a bill in the House; Mitch refuses to bring it up for a vote in the Senate. It's as simple as that.

It’s not as simple that, at least that is what the people are seeing. From what I’ve been watching on the news, some people are pointing the fingers at both sides and rightfully so.

It’s not as simple as that, otherwise we still wouldn’t be in a government shutdown.

It is as simple as that. If Republicans want to vote against the bill, then they can. If Trump wants to veto the bill, then he can. But Mitch won't allow either to happen. Why? Because the bill would pass and would be veto-proof and he knows it.

Although Trump deserves the majority of the blame, the Democrats share a bit as well. It takes two to tango and both are having a rough time going about it. True, the Democrats have brought things to the table, but you can sense the pure distain of Trump which makes an average person wonder if they’re really trying.

The longer this goes on, the overall narrative will be how both sides aren’t working together to get this done. The lines will start to get blurred on who’s fault this is.

What proposals?

All the Democrats are saying at this stage is ...

Open the government first. Which is in the bests interests of the country and 800,000 workers. Everything else is secondary.

Proposals and negotiations happen after the government is open.

Seems like people don't understand that

The Senate is poised as early as Tuesday to act on a Trump-backed measure to end the government shutdown, but a bill promoted as a compromise has drawn opposition because it would also severely restrict migrants' ability to claim asylum.
yes, let's keep the government shut down so that migrants definitely dont lose the right to claim asylum. we wouldnt want to affect that all-important issue :beli:

:comeon: It's exactly that simple.

On the surface, yes, it’s simple. I understand that but if that were the case, why has this become so unreasonably complex for this to get done? It just seems like they’re both going in circles with Trump causing a lot of the damage. The Democrats need to stop a bit of barking and start to bite hard at this thing.

I prefer, let's keep the government closed because Trump was unable to keep his campaign promise that Mexico would pay for the wall in his first three days as president. :ehh:

Whyyyyyyyyyyyy?

You mean, Ann Coulter threatening him didn't get to him? You mean Mueller closing in on him didn't get to him? You mean Dems taking over the House and actually investigating him didn't get to him?
