Stupid as fukk. That’s like the Warriors missing out on Kevin Durant because Steve Kerr says he can’t bring his wife on the plan. See how silly that sounds? And we talking about fukkin Tim Duncan. Doc Rivers shouldn’t have any front office position.

That's the thing though, he was. Idk if you go on the Onion at all or not, but they wrote so many articles making fun of him for being so smart. One of those articles was actually about Duncan performing successful surgery on Kawhi

"SAN ANTONIO, TX—As 21-year-old small forward Kawhi Leonard was prepped and placed under general anesthesia Friday, Spurs center Tim Duncan scrubbed up and entered the operating room in University Hospital to perform his teammate's arthroscopic meniscectomy. "With this type of injury, it's best to clear out this scar tissue around the tibia before repairing the tear here on the lateral meniscus," the 13-time NBA All-Star said while pointing to an MRI scan of Leonard's left knee. "Basketball is Kawhi's life, so it's nice to be able to help him get back on the court. Nurse, I'm going to need a C-mount arthroscope and a biting clamp, please." After carefully suturing the last incision, Duncan washed up and began outlining a regimented physical therapy program that would have Leonard playing again by November."

Duncan wasn’t leaving San Antonio they gassing this
Duncan said the Magic, who reportedly offered him a multi-year deal worth $67 million, made his decision difficult.

“Orlando had a lot to offer,” Duncan told a packed news conference at a San Antonio hotel. “I had a good time and I met some great people down there, but I decided to stay here and keep going for another championship.”

Spurs' Duncan to stay in San Antonio

That Doc story sounds like bullshyt:childplease:

I vividly remember that summer and how the Magic had built to clear cap the previous season and ended up having a team with a good supporting cast for them (heart and Hustle) and from the reports and everything it just didnt seem like Duncan was gonna join despite the full court press by Orlando and the visit to them. David Robinson was the one who talked to him after both visits and pretty much assured him the team there in San Antonio was more built to win.
They were also pretty close to not getting T-Mac too cause he got a last minute meeting with Miami and Zo had courted him too btw

This story about an entourage not allowed on the team plane being a deal breaker sounds like such bullshyt. Like Im supposed to believe Duncan rolled like that ever and Pop would have and did let him?:stopitslime:

I still don't buy Tim leaving the spurs they had already won a title and he supposedly has thus love affair with Pop so all this talk is for null really

RC did a podcast with Woj where he said that summer when they pitched Timmy to stay they fukked it up so bad that they just knew he was gone...

They would have at least one 1 ring. By 2003 the Lakers were finished 3 peating and Duncan and T-Mac both would have still been well under 30. Cant see anyone in the East stopping them and obviously it wouldn't have been the Spurs coming out of the West some of those years cause Duncan would have been gone.
