I vividly remember that summer and how the Magic had built to clear cap the previous season and ended up having a team with a good supporting cast for them (heart and Hustle) and from the reports and everything it just didnt seem like Duncan was gonna join despite the full court press by Orlando and the visit to them. David Robinson was the one who talked to him after both visits and pretty much assured him the team there in San Antonio was more built to win.
They were also pretty close to not getting T-Mac too cause he got a last minute meeting with Miami and Zo had courted him too btw

This story about an entourage not allowed on the team plane being a deal breaker sounds like such bullshyt. Like Im supposed to believe Duncan rolled like that ever and Pop would have and did let him?

Their wouldn’t been a Spurs dynasty and they would’ve beat AI’s 76ers,the Nets and Pistons easily been in the finals multiple years. Changed the views on T-Mac and Grant Hill’s legacy. Pop wouldn’t be seen as the coach he is today

They would have at least one 1 ring. By 2003 the Lakers were finished 3 peating and Duncan and T-Mac both would have still been well under 30. Cant see anyone in the East stopping them and obviously it wouldn't have been the Spurs coming out of the West some of those years cause Duncan would have been gone.
