This is old

a retired player going back to school isn’t a problem at all. It’s to finish and get a degree, kill time etc

If he wanted he can play overseas.

Why didn't he go play in Europe, China or Australia?

His knees jello?

"On August 26, 2015, Oden signed a one-year, $1.2 million contract with the Jiangsu Dragons of the Chinese Basketball Association. On December 9, he recorded a season-high 22 points and 14 rebounds in a win over Shandong. On February 1, 2016, he parted ways with Jiangsu. In 25 games for the club, he averaged 13.0 points, 12.6 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game."

Feel so bad for him

The Portland Trailblazers as a franchise in general have had shyt luck with injuries. Whether you're talking about Billy Walton, Arvydas Sabonis, Brandon Roy, Oden, etc
Also they traded baby Moses Malone for peanuts because they had Walton. If Bill stays healthy or they keep Moses and he steps in when Bill gets hurt. That Trailblazers team runs the late 70s early 80s.
